Her name is Dita

This has got to be the BEST of these tours. Not because I love the house (it's pretty, don't get me wrong) but because it was so unexpected to find out that Dita would be such a fantastic tour guide. She's stunning, of course, and is best know for the awesome burlesque show she puts on, but I think her best attribute is her personality. Yeah, trite but you'll see why I say that. She's one of a kind. You have GOT to watch the video because it's just fantastic.

I truly love the fact that she's bought the house she WANTED and has not let anybody (or even uncomfortable furniture) get on the way of her realizing her dream. I see her house as a pretty jewel box, and as jewel boxes go, they have a special value in the eyes of those who possess them. I literally laughed out loud when she mentioned what she wants to do with the one white wall in her house. It basically defined the tour. The objects, the paintings, and the rooms themselves are as fascinating as Dita: beautiful and unusual and a little bit untouchable. Who would have thought she's from Michigan?

I enjoy when people are as sui-generis as Dita. Their houses reflect that and I'm here for it. And what about that little number she's wearing? And the shoe collection? Fab, I tell you. Fab.

Enjoy!

XOXO

And I was kind of wondering the same about the kitty? Why do I think about these things?

    1. She mentions that she started collecting vintage clothes because she didn't have enough money to buy designer stuff. Perfect motivation to refine one's style.

  4. I love the house, and Dita, but it's a lot of stuff.I love people that live like that but it gets me anxious, and the taxidermy creeps me out ...except for the bunny in a tail coat.
Naturally, I loved the bedroom most of all because it was chic and minimal.
And, truth be told, I died a little in the shoe room!

I could only think about swiffering everything once a month.
The taxidermy is a little imposing. I loved the birds. The bedroom was a dream. The dresser! The curtains! That closet!
I think she mentioned she converted one of the rooms in a closet. Dream!

  6. Well as you guessed I love her house too. It so reminds me of my good friend The Dame's house I sometimes blog about. He too have tons of taxidermy, and nothing new in the house...it's 90% all vintage or antique, with very little new. My room I stay in is the bird room! How perfect right?

I love her kitchen the most...those colors are so chic and romantic together. And the copper!!! I remember when Dita came to our store for her lingerie line . We had huge shops installed for her collections. She was so warm and welcoming and had great time with everyone. She was just excellent. When I did the Raven Boylesque show she was my inspiration.

So was so different then Rachel Zoe. This posted warmed my cockels today!

The kitchen and the red cooper? Loved it. She said she basically transplanted her old kitchen here. Her whole house is fantastic.
I would have loved to be there. Her personality is very warm, contradicting that flawless facade.
      Rachel Zoe is a harpy.

I adore you even more now!!!!! When Rachel Zoe came back for a second visit, I said just that!!!! "Do we know what time the harpy is due?"

The only positive thing from that visit was meeting Jeremiah Brent!!!!!!!

She's an entitled See U Next Tuesday. You'd think if she's all that she'd be editing Elle. Or Glamour by now. Ugh.

  8. She's got one sweet pad. I Googled her because I wanted to know more - that's my story and I am sticking with it - and found out she was once married to Marilyn Manson. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

It is a very nice place. She made it her own, which makes it more special.
