So, you're Brad Pitt...

There's something about Orville that gives me the tingle to mingle. Apparently, I'm into tall, slim dudes with a deep voice and tattoos. And I'm apparently also into country. Who Knew? I guess I'm just slutty. I am also into men who are their own person and who really don't give a shit about other's perception of them. Orville seems to fill that profile. For me, it's more about who the man is than what the man looks like. And that taking into account that Orville looks like fun.

Some may say that he's not country enough or that he's fake (see: mask) but I think that he's more authentic than the macho-er-than-thou country stars on the airwaves nowadays. I don't see his persona as a gimmick. I see it as part of his music. Did anybody ask Prince about his purple haze? No. And Orville brings something that I like: camp. Camp needs cultural referents and thought. Camp requires reading, and reading is what? Fun-da-men-tal,honey. The exercise of creativity is certainly something that's lacking in country, if I may say so. The drag-out, drunk-beyond-words, truck-parked-in-mud narrative of country songs really says nothing to me. But Orville sings about lonesome cowboys and as a queer kid, that I can get into that.

Seriously, I'm loving this video. Especially because of the diversity of the people portrayed: older, younger, black, white, male, female and everything in between. There's even one of my fav Drag artists thrown in for good measure... Fun, fun. So I had to post it. And it has Shania Twain, which I remember for her crossover hits. She's been slightly problematic at times, but I can deal with that. Especially cause she looks good in leopard print.

Now, back to Orville and those chaps...

XOXO

    1. I know!
I was wondering when the vid was made. And I’ve kind of avoided trying to find out how he looks without the mask. I’m sure he’s attractive. I think I like the mystery.

  2. He does seem like he has a lot to offer. And the mask lends a bit of mystery. He does fill out his jeans well. Would prefer to see him in only chaps 😜.

He and Shania work well together. And, like you said, there is a lot of diversity in the video, something you don’t see much of in country music.

    1. I hope he finds more mainstream recognition. I think the music is good.
Country music is kind of stale, IMHO.
And I’d also like him wearing just chaps...

  3. I never understood how or why an artist is "fake". He wears a mask, so what? Kenny Chesney lives at the beach, and every one of his videos involves sand. Does the sand make him less country because he's not on a ranch with a lasso.
Thanks for introducing me to Orville...cause me myself? I'm a little bit country, a little bit rock n roll....but I also like The Cure...and I have all of Madonna's albums.(and it's cause I really like her, it wasn't to maintain my pink card status). Every artist is different. Every artist has their thing. His is a mask and great music.

Part of being an artist is creating a persona that goes with what they do. OMG I love The Cure! You have no idea. And same with Madge!
I think Orville is talented and if that talent comes with the mask, so be it.

  4. I love me a masked man. It's sexy. If he wanted to play Zorro with his sword with me, I'd be up for that. And the music is good too. Poo-poo the haters!

    1. Yeah, I can see why some people would not like it.
I do. I’d love for Orville to have his way with me. While wearing the mask.
      You know me...

  7. He's got a nice tone to his voice....Yeah, the mask feels like a gimmick but how does that song from "Gypsy" go? "Ya gotta have a gimmick." Staying power? Sometimes, like Madonna, you have to reinvent yourself to remain relevant. xoxo

    1. I love the voice!
It makes me feel warm inside. Men with deep voices have that effect on me.
And I think the staying power is the combo of talent and something that makes them unique.

  8. Orville Peck is a goddamn breath of fresh air in the stale country scene! I love him. And Shania Twain still looks great in that leopard cat suit!

I don’t even listen to country! But I like to listen to Orville Peck, natch.
Oh Shania was rocking that cat suit!
      Roar.

  9. You and me, kid. I don't like modern country... hate all the fake stuff - the frat boys, hard country dudes, the rednecks - that is all BS. They cop that so they can sell records to those demographics. The music is pop music with a slicked up countrified sound. BLECH. This dude? Orvillepeck may hide behind a mask (compelling marketing, no?) but he is SO MUCH MORE REAL than any of those posers and party boys ruling the country airwaves. They are a dime a dozen. This one? He's genuine and interesting and I love his voice. He's smart. He knows country has to become more inclusive if it wants to breakdown walls and expand its influence. Okay... enough on him. He's hot, too, which helps. BUT - Shania! Woot woot. GURL. Them titties. Sorry (she brings out the hetero in me). Amazeballs. She looks like a billion dollars. And sounds so good. Nice pairing. Nice song. And I agree with you on the vid. Inclusion. It's what America NEEDS to eat for breakfast. YEE HAW!

I am not a country music kind of guy, by any means. But Orville does sound (and looks, mask notwithstanding) more real than many contemporary country acts. And he does bring the hotness.
And Shania! Va-va-boom! Girl knows how to compel attention.
      I loved the vid.
