Dress me up

This weekend is Halloween. And because we are in the middle of a pandemic, I will not be wearing a costume and I will not be going out to celebrate as I have done during previous years (and Debra has given me some very good ideas!!) . Not that I've been very prone to wear a costume, mind you. I think the last costume I wore was basically devil horns, black lipstick and a tail you could clip to your belt. Yes, I'm basic. But I promise I'll improve. When the pandemic ends, I’m gonna have Maddie drag me up for Halloween, I promise. For shits and giggles.

I don't usually dress up because I refuse to go out in a skimpy costume (if you are going to dress up for Halloween, why not be downright slutty?) in the cold Chicago night. Even though they say tomorrow is going to be in the fifties, I've gone out to ask for candy from strangers when it's lower forties out. Halloween has been pretty chilly during these last years and even though I've done some bar hopping to celebrate, I have mostly tended to stay home and watch scary movies instead of braving the weather in my underwear.

But I have to say that for this year I would not have minded going out as a cookie, or Dionne or Aladdin or Pooh. I think this social distancing thing has made me nostalgic of what I did not do other years. We always want what we cannot have. But as of today, no dressing up. I just did some baggies with candy that will go in a little basket in case some kid shows up at the door and wants some socially-distant candy, though.

And you, what's your fav costume from the ones the guys tried on? Would you be my monster?

XOXO

  1. I loved the Aladdin take. And I’d definitely be your Cookie Monster. I love cookies, don’t ya know 😘.

This year will be different. No kids at the door. I think I’m going to set up a table in the driveway and spread the candy out on it for them to take. I’ll wipe the table down with Clorox wipes occasionally and restock the table all while wearing my jack o lantern face mask my brother and his husband made.

    👻 Happy Halloween 🎃 babe.

    XOXO 👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨

  2. The video was funny. Oh, and I don't dress up either, At aa certain point in your life you realize Halloween is for the young, rather than the young at heart.

  4. I loved Tigger and Pooh! Yep. I have them both all over the house and even some little yard sculptures amongst the greenery outside.
I haven't dressed up for Halloween in years and years. Well, except for lame stuff at the office. A "P" painted on a t-shirt and a black eye done with mascara. Oh, and the cereal box hung around my neck on a string and a knife stuck in, red coloring around the wound. Yep, lame, I know. Perhaps I need Maddie to dress me up!
We don't get kids coming to the door...so, we haven't had to worry about it. We buy special stuff for the little kids at the end of the cul-de-sac and actually take it down to them. XOXO

I love those ideas for costumes!
I would have been Pooh. I don't have the body for the Tigger onesie.
And we did get some kids. Socially distant, of course. So nice you get candy for those kids, though!

  7. My "go to costume" is always a witch. It's a pretty easy costume too.

  8. Ill have a little surprise for tomorrow since we all can't go out or party!!!!!!!!!

But I love Halloween and really miss a party this year. I always dressed up. But I told someone on a blog...just one year instead of drag I'd like to go to one of those really dirty sexy costumes parties just once. Like is dark scary attire with a jock strap on...or kinky attire cock binding.....im open.

      I loved your surprise party!
I loved the attire and the props and the videos!
We basically stayed in and watched movies and ate ice cream and chocolate eclairs.

  9. Oh, I am with Maddie on this one... I want to disguise myself just enough so I can be a raging whore for a night. And Halloween is that night... the great excuse! Now, drag? I would do that, too... but that's a lot of shaving. I would shave my beard for that. I don't care for drag with beards... I want to be a lady... a colorful, fright wigged lady - or maybe Tallulah Bankhead or Davis in All About Eve. I love me a pair of elbow length opera gloves! But back to being a total whore? I'd drop a few viagra and let my real monster out on the prowl. A sexy Frankenstein? Fun to think about. Have a lovely. And Happy Frankenstein Friday, dear. Chicago would be a great place for Halloween 2021!

    1. Well, treating the tricks on Halloween is something I cannot bash.
And I would love Maddie to drag me up. She's such an artist!!!!
      Bette Davis is a classic.
And you'd kill it as sexy Frankie!
      Let's plan for 2021!

  10. I hope you get a few kiddos to stop by and celebrate Halloween with you. We are still undecided on what we are doing tomorrow with Kyle and Hayden. My favorite costume was when I was Captain of the Fallopian Swim Team, http://www.mrshife.com/2006/10/halloween-2006.html. Enjoy your weekend.

    1. Ok, so the Speedo thong did it for me. Definitely.
Hopefully the kids had a good time. We did have some trick or treaters but we left the candy out in a basket, we actually didn't say hi to many.

  11. My comments seems to disappear when I make them. My favorite was Pooh bear. I have a soft spot for Winnie the Pooh. How I loved the cartoons on the Sunday night with Disney on television. But I also love the movie Clueless and so those costumes were cute too!

I could not comment on Anne Marie's on Friday.
And that Pooh bear costume was soooo cute!
Clueless is a classic! (In more ways than one, lol)
