Oh, yes. They exist. The thing is, the Republican Party's outwardly anti-LGBTQ+ stance, contrasts with the knowledge of a significant number of deeply closeted gay men within the party's ranks, particularly in leadership positions. Here we hear anecdotes from people’s experiences in Republican politics, and they of course highlight the prevalence of closeted gay men (hello, Lady G) in campaigns and government, often in highly conservative circles (remember when Grindr almost collapsed during the RNC?). I think something people forget is the very active role of prominent figures like Arthur Finkelstein, a gay Republican strategist, in shaping the modern Republican culture war, particularly through anti-LGBTQ+ messaging. Who better than a self hating gay man to know how to attack other gay people?
