Standing By

It may be a New York Minute until I come back. I may not post much and I may not comment a lot. I'm waiting for Blogger to 'revise' their decision to delete my post. If they don't do anything, I am not going to sit here and wait for them to delete my blog(s). Fuck them and their algorithm. I am not going to be censured by one of three stupid motherfuckers paid by Blogger, working from some broom closet in California's silicon valley or from their mother's basement garden apartment to decide what is 'threatening’ in a post about collages taken from Instagram. Fuck that.

If they say nothing about my post and do not repost it (technically, it didn't violate any of their terms) I think I will eventually phase this blog out and I'll move to WordPress with Lurkie and JM before I suffer the fate of so many blogs that just disappear one day. And don't worry, I’ll let you know where it is that I’m keeping up with my TMI tradition. Also, you will be able to comment there with you Google handle. It's easy.

I'll hopefully see you soon, Constant Reader. Please bear with me. I'm so thoroughly triggered by this intrusion from Blogger that I can barely type, let alone think straight. Not like I've done that before, natch.

XOXO

  1. Honestly, that's the first thing that I thought of when you said 'threatening.' I've known a number of artists and I can tell you quite a few of them are very controlling when it comes to their work. Posting collages without their approval takes that control away from them, and it's not just about giving credit where credit is due. If one of your readers really liked one of your posts, he could save the picture, print it off to hang on his wall. I would not be surprised if the initial complaint came from one of them.

    1. Yeah, but I wrote to him (I didn't get a response, though).
The thing is that there's a disclaimer of fair use in the blog. There's also a note that says they can post Anon and ask for a post to be removed.
There's also impersonation and copyright options when you submit a complaint on Blogger, that would have been more appropriate/understandable.
And these pics are not high quality, they would not stand being blown up.
      It's really fishy.

    2. I agree handsome! I have in the past had male models email and ask post to be removed, because they were no longer in the field, and they were very kind and nice about it. Something is fishy.

I'm really bummed by this. I've been checking Wordpress but it's complicated!

    HuntleyBiGuy:
Shades of Tumbler. I wonder if the “snitch” has a history of bogus reports. But then the little weasels who review the posts have nothing to lose. I think you’ve said it before. Google may be working to offload Blogger and if enough bloggers leave, they’ll just pull the plug.

    1. Absolutely!
I felt attacked. And those people who review the posts are underpaid and overworked. They don't give a shit. And I think that may be what Blogger is after. Maybe to come up with some new shiny object that gives them more information about us. Remember, WE are the product...

    Big says,
The crappy thing is they didn't specify what you'd done; what in the post they (or the whine - er, complainant) found threatening in a post about artwork. Going to another platform is a good idea....especially if there is a way to transfer all the work you've already done here. You know I will follow you --- and update the link on my blog. XOXO

    1. Nothing.
It's vague on purpose. It can be anything, literally. I've been eyeing Wordpress. I can literally transfer all this blog there. It's not user friendly, though. Very complicated.

I am exploring Wordpress. It's so fucking complicated! Ugh.

  6. I hope you can continue. If I have any issues....this will be the end of the line for me. I don't find Word press very user friendly and I find it very hard to find where things are located. I was there before as a back up...but had a terrible time setting up the place the way I wanted...especially when it came to me headers. Huntley may be right. I had heard some time ago Google might what to off load blogger.

    1. I hope so, too.
And Wordpress IS kind of complicated and not as user friendly as Blogger. And you were on Wordpress? I watched a tutorial and it seems good for businesses (the paid sites) but it does have a 'free' option.
Yeah, Blogger may be looking to get rid of us...

  8. I believed and still believe that blogspot is very good as a platform for blogging, because tense, images and the ability to comment are so balanced and also aesthetically pleasing. Tumblr in this respect is impractical, because the ability to comment is much less effective and more restricted and less relevant. There the images prevail. I do not know. I hope we can continue here.

    1. It USED to be very good.
For awhile it was the only blogging platform worth using. I'm pissed off because they have not gotten in touch with me. Nothing. And I need that post back or an explanation of why it was taken down. It's arbitrary.

  11. No! Don't leave us!! Did Jimmy put you up to this?

I agree that Wordpress can be a complicated platform, but that is because it has evolved into a general-purpose publishing platform, not just something for blogs. Getting basic blog functionality is not that difficult, though, and you can ignore much of the complicated stuff. (Theming the site so it looks like what you want is another matter. It is doable but probably not as easy as on Blogger.)

I agree that being censored is frustrating, and being censored without understanding exactly why is The Google Way. But if you run you are letting the censors win.

    1. Lurkie!
Hahaha no, Jimmy did not put me up to this. It was the stupid, irrational, capricious nature of mechanized censorship that goes on here on Blogger what pissed me off. I even talked to the artist and he's confused too!
Wordpress IS a little convoluted. I'm trying to figure it out, but a you said, if I leave, I let the censors win.
I'm keeping my options open, though. One never knows... So many blogs have been suddenly closed, I want to be proactive...

    Big says,
Well, the Blogger Police just removed my blog...for being "SPAM." WTF? I've requested a review...which should prove it's not SPAM but ya never know. They are at it hot and heavy. XOXO

    1. OMG what?
I call fuckery! I also requested a review but as of today, nothing. If they do let you have your blog back, you need to back it up immediately, download it to your desktop and head to Wordpress right away. They allow you to back up the whole thing there.
      Fuck Blogger and their fuckery.
