Ok, so I have to confess that I'm all for short stories. They are able to grab your attention and they usually have emotional developments. I'm also all for short films that deliver a punch. Bob has treated us to some very cool short stories and Dave writes long form. I like them both (and they are both very engaging). But I'm a sucker for a short film that encompasses the best of short stories: a great and innovative point of view, an unusal setting, an unexpected conflict and a somehow surprising climax.

I am not going to tell you about this one. I'm not going to tell you my opinion, because I obviously think it is good (duh it's here, no?) and I definitely liked it. I'm going to let you watch it and then it's you who's going to tell me what you think. So go ahead. Watch this short and tell me if that last scene didn't give you some life*. Bet those will be twenty minutes well spent. Go ahead, make your day a tiny bit more memorable. Mine is made already.

XOXO

  1. I saw that short a few years ago and it still haunts me. I love it. It is such a beautiful film. And if you haven't yet, catch "In God's Country" and "Viva" on Netflix. No, wait, make room on the couch and hold the blanket up for me. I'm popping some corn, making a batch of sangria, and we're having us a double feature nite under the blanket.

  2. I'm glad it had a happy ending, insofar as the kid's education money was concerned.

  3. Two beautiful boys! The dance scene made me think of a video I saw of two guys dancing the Bachata Sensual.

  4. Thanks for sharing that. One of the best films I have seen in so long, even over full films. The two actors had such believable chemistry....and I adored the whole horse play and dancing scene....brilliant against a barber shop is only for all masculine males. Course I wouldn't mind being the filling between those piece of bread either!!!

    Enjoy the weekend!

  6. Sort stories and short films are both difficult to do well. Every word and and every second needs to count.

  7. When he left with the boy’s money I thought it was horrible. Then he comes back with the bank and the intimacy they shared at the end 😍. This is top notch entertainment.

  8. @walter: I’d Netflix and chill with you any time, Walt. In God’s Country is beautiful and Viva is a love story within a self love story. Loved them both. So when are you coming over?
    @debra: I know! I gasped.
    @Maddie: yes! They light up that screen. The looks. The touches! And I think Walter I’d going to have his hands full....
    @dave: i think so, too. It’s a very delicate balance, the thing with short stories. Not telling too much or too little.
    @bae. It is a well done short. And that kiss!
    XoXo
