The story of President Donald Trump and impeachment has reached a key moment: On Wednesday, December 18, the House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly along party lines to impeach the president.

There is little indication that the Republican-controlled Senate will vote to convict.

It is a good thing we have at least a few representatives who believe in the Constitution and rule of law. He's been indicted by congressional Grand Jury. That will stand on his record forever more. Within a week or so he will declare he wears it proudly. The Senate just may have a few Repubs who actually do want a fair trial. If they oppose McConnell and Graham, it just may be fair - not that they'll vote to remove him in the end.
