RVing

I thought this was adorable and quickly decided to blog about it.

I like how in 2019 we can find queer creators on YouTube who share their lives for the world to see. I would not be able to stand the scrutiny, but whomever chooses to do so, kudos! These two guys have a strong online presence and seem to be very talented. They renovated an RV and went on a road trip in it. It’s a new way to see queer lives and even though we have not reached peak post-gay (whatever that means), this is a good start.

So they seem to be self employed or working from home. And that’s something I wish I could do. You see, I’m attached to a job that does not really let me be mobile. The idea to be able to work with just a WiFi connection and a computer is kind of a new thing to me, but it’s actually very attractive. It would free me from my desk, but I wonder if I’d miss the daily human contact I enjoy. Oh I know, people sometimes get on my last fucking nerve, but I guess I’m a social person, so there’s that.

I also wish I were as handy as they are. Of course they have had time to refine their skills because they’re not attached to a desk job -something that millennials are doing more and more- and that shows. The final product is fantastic. I’ve written here about my secret desire to downsize my life and these guys seem to have done it very well. And they managed to go on a trip cross country to boot!

And that’s basically my third wish. I wish I could dedicate time to my man in that manner. I think bonding over installing the floor in an RV and then driving it over to the east coast and then enjoy a beautiful sunset while laying on a beach in California in August would be just what I need. I imagine not all of their lives is as Instagram ready as everything they show us, but it would be nice. I have been in short distance trips in an RV and it’s really not that bad.

So yeah, it’s nice to see that two men in love can have this kind of online presence and show the world how this generation is doing it. It’s 2019 after all, and thankfully, not everything is bad.

  1. I too need the human contact of my office mates. I could not work from home alone. and such cute couples!

    1. It’s something I’ve always wondered when people are stupid at work. And I think that the interaction is what makes work productive and satisfying.
      And yes, they’re adorable!

  2. They are truly talented. And it’s taken them a long time to get where they are today. As they said in the first video they worked their 9 to 5s while getting their house flipping business going. They are driven and now reaping the benefits at a relatively young age. I wish I had that drive when I was younger.

And it’s good to see a gay couple enjoying each other and succeeding in a business together. And traveling while they do it.

And working from home? I’ve done it short term and it’s not easy. I get distracted too easily. I think I need the structure of an office. Or to be a winner of a large lottery jackpot.

    1. Yes, they’re very driven. I think that’s been key to their success. And working from home is indeed too unstructured most times. It requires a LOT of discipline.
I would love even a small lotto prize!

  3. I'd love to have those adorable guys come to work on my house. I'd just sit and watch them all day.

Yes! Also, the house would end up looking amazing. Win/win.

  4. I wouldn't mind being the Meat in that sandwich on the road!!!! They are adorable. I do freelance interior design....so i could conceivably be self employed if it was steady enough. I could travel and do design from my vintage air stream, as i travel cross country!!! Great idea. I follow a guy on instagram documenting his reno on a air stream. It's pretty cool. What a feel good post.

    1. First and foremost, Airstreams are THE BEST! I’d love to be handy just to renew one. Second, yes, to a ménage a trois with them. Third, I wish I had the dough to have you redo my place!

  5. I worked remote from home for a short while - until the project manager decided I had to be present in the offices. It wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Sure, I could sit and work in my PJ's (naked, really), but I did miss the interaction with some of the coworkers.
I could live in a tiny house or an RV as long as I could spend the majority of my time outside - like on the beach. The freedom to pull up stakes at a moment's notice could be nice but I don't think I could do it long-term. I'd miss my friends!

    1. And that’s something I often wonder: would it be great to work from home. And think I decided it would not. I’d get claustrophobic. And I think tiny houses would work better in mild climates. I also think that an indoor/ outdoor routine would be ideal.
And I just imagined you doing your posts naked. Yep, I’m dirty. LoL

    2. I confess, it's true! Especially in the Summer months. I'm naked whenever, wherever possible without being arrested. Naked is good. Naked is always good. :-)

  6. Remember that everything online is carefully curated to project the desired image. Off-camera, those two probably fight like cats and dogs.

    1. Haha I also thought that. There’s some little instances in the videos where you can tell the editing took care of the juicy parts. Also, I think their make up sex should be awesome.

  7. I deal with house flippers. Some are very smart and conscientious, like these cuties, others will use the shitiest products as they can get.

    1. OMG that’s the first thing I think when I see the flipping shows on TV!
The results are sometimes amazing but I wonder if it’s not just for show.

    2. You're correct Dave. Almost bought an estate home which I knew would need a lot of work. Didn't work out. A flipper bought it and I went to see what had been done. She put lipstick on a pig - didn't even bother to replace missing cabinet doors and pushed her selling price 40 grand above what she paid. I gave her agent an earful.
