OTP Three

Matt and Blue. I used to watch Matt Dallas in Kyle XY and used to think that he'd become a really attractive man. And I was not wrong. He's very handsome. Matt went off the radar after his series went off the air and in the meanwhile he apparently met Blue Hamilton and married him five years later in 2015. Matt and Blue have been married now for awhile and they have the cutest YouTube channel. If you don't follow anybody, I'd recommend you follow them. They're quirky, and fun and smart. They now live in a farm somewhere in the wilderness and have a son (Crow) and a doggie, and a kitty and a whole menagerie of fun animals they show us at regular intervals in their channel.

Their channel has become this little oasis of normalcy in an over-instagrammed string of gay couples who put out their lives up for us to gawk at. They are terribly pedestrian in the videos they upload. I'm not saying they don't edit their lives. Of course they do. They are only showing us what they want us to see. What I'm saying is, within the confines of the artificiality of watching someone's life through the lens of YouTube, theirs is actually quite compelling in its very own way. I know it's an illusion. Very few things go unedited on social media. But it's an illusion of day-to-day life that's very endearing.

Let's see: their house is not decorated to an inch of its life. There's a sense that it's a house where people live and it's not picture perfect. They do have their sponsors, like when they cook something for the camera, but that's just part of the package of being a YouTuber. What they manage is to incorporate those things into their life, just like we would do. They also get into all kinds of projects and not all of them achieve a high rate of success. They have had to redo a lot of stuff. Hence, they are fun to watch. They do not over emphasize their obvious attractiveness: it's just there. Blue's swagger sometimes manages to be just a tad grating. I bet he's great in bed because otherwise I would snap.

They also display a real-life-couple dynamic: they discuss things and argue. They do reality checks on each other in real time and leave it on tape. They also seem to genuinely like each other and enjoy each other's company and it shows, even though there are no obvious PDAs going on. I think it's more on the loving eye of the camera when they take turns filming each other. It's subtle, but it's there. And that's refreshing.

I think they are one of those couples that actually give an idea of what a gay relationship is. Not all of us are super glam like a Hollywood couple or super sexy like two porn stars. Many of us are garden variety gays with busy lives and a mortgage and a pet. Many are raising a family. And Matt and Blue may just be the pals we talk to. I would not mind asking them to drop by for dinner. Bet they're a riot.
