I've seen this and it's a fascinating watch and highly recommended. I think most of us have two sides whether we want to admit it or not. And then some of us Embrace both sides and love it. Just a shame people can't just be instead of having titles attached to everything.

Interesting that the Zapotec language does not distinguish between male and female genders. It does not appear that the category of Muxes includes women who dress and act in a masculine manner. I wonder what their story is?

I think it's maybe because the feminine is considered the guardian of the traditions? I kind of got that vibe from the video.
DeleteSpanish, the language of the colonizers, did have masculine and feminine, though. Muxes are an act of rebellion, even though some present more masculine than others, probably making masculine women less salient in the culture?
