Ben, you're not doing it right
I know, I know, you don't listen to rap/hip-hop. I hear you. But this is what happens when people take a song that empowers women and make it their own: it goes to number one. You have already heard WAP, the Cardi B -Meghan Thee Stallion collab that's lighting the end of the summer. It even inspired me to write one of the raunchiest posts you'll find this side of Uptown.
You see, when the song dropped the conservatives all reached for their collective pearls at the same moment. The song is a raunchy, fun, witty ode to women getting hot. Rapping about getting horny and getting your freak on is nothing new. Male rappers have been talking about pussy and about having their dicks sucked for YEARS (male Rock and Roll singers have done that, too). The thing is, now it was two women talking about pleasure and conservatives were not going to have any of it. I almost fell off my chair when Ben Shapiro, the sentient avatar for a Children of the Corn Pop Funko figurine.
As I also discussed on the show, my only real concern is that the women involved -- who apparently require a "bucket and a mop" -- get the medical care they require. My doctor wife's differential diagnosis: bacterial vaginosis, yeast infection, or trichomonis.— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) August 10, 2020
Even I, with very limited knowledge about how to get women excited, know that when a woman gets wet, whomever made her wet is doing the right thing. But you know conservatives. They want to just be a killjoy when it comes to pleasure. Especially women's and gay men's. That's something that they cannot tolerate. Their thing is power grabs related to sexuality and freedom.
Also, the idea that women, especially Black women, would dare talk assertively about their sexuality and about their desire to have good sex is beyond comprehension for some wyt pipl. Women who rap, especially, fall in the category of 'Angry Black Woman', because the delivery in Rap is assertive, direct, unflinching. I would recommend listening to the point Dulcé Sloan makes about two Black women talking about their sexuality, especially in Rap/Hip-hop. When she brings Margo Price to do a Country version of WAP, you'll see what she means. People just can't with Black women being sexually assertive. It's simple. The patriarchy and white supremacy suffer a collective spasm.
As a closer, check out Bob the Drag Queen watch WAP with his MOM. Goddess, how I wish my mom were alive so I could have these kind of discussions with her. My mom was very 'with it' and I'm sure she would have been down for this discussion. Even Bob's mom gets that's about women being assertive and even calls the song 'feminist' (which is letting women do their thing, just as men have done for centuries, natch).
All in all, it's all good for me when a raunchy song about getting good sex put out by two strong (and beautiful) Black women has had this impact. And some people say that music is either irrelevant or irreverent. It's irrelevant when people are so consumed by their ideology that they reveal to the world that they don't have the most rudimentary knowledge about sexuality. I, for one, am sorry for Ben's wife. Damn. Not having had the need for a bucket and a mop in all the years they've been together should sting.

P.S.
Oh, And Cardi B can surely talk about other things, too. And that's why wyt pple just cannot take it.
"You have already heard WAP, the Cardi B -Meghan Thee Stallion collab that's lighting the end of the summer."
ReplyDeleteActually, I haven't heard it, but have heard of it. That said, music is music and it's not everyone's taste and the subject matter may not be your taste, so if you don't like it, move along; if you like it, play it loud.
And this white person actually likes Cardi B, perhaps not her music so much, but that she has a stance and takes it.
Oh, but I posted it here. It was that raunchy post about how I like it done.
DeleteAnd yes, it's all over the place because everybody has an opinion about it, which I think it's the raison d'être of music, overall.
And yes, she does have a point of view. And can she ever dog walk the idiots.
XOXO
Like you said, all about control. Keep them barefoot and pregnant, right? They are scared when anyone tells them leave my body alone. Look at the battle for abortion rights and the use of birth control.
ReplyDeleteThese douches need to crawl back into their hole and get buried. Screw them.
XOXO 👨❤️💋👨
Oh they cannot take anybody enjoying themselves. It's the nature of the 'conservatives' and Talibangelicals. And they will lie, cheat and steal to get their points across.
DeleteI despise them all.

One word: Sleazy.
ReplyDeleteBy the Village People. That's my feel dirty sleazy sexy fun song.
Mic drop
OMG .
DeleteI totally had to go google that. And now I want that LP!
Thanks, Conde!

Bob the Drag Queen's Mom is great!
ReplyDeleteI know, right?
DeleteShe makes some very good points: it's a feminist song but also it talks about money and acquisitive power, which are things that are not mutually exclusive. Her dry wit is fantastic.
XOXO
I am so disgusted by the outrageousness of women demanding to be equals! WTF - equality in the workplace, equality in politics, now they want equality n the bedroom, too???? We can't have that! Let's put them back in their place. I mean, how dare they want sexual satisfaction? Do they need to have an orgasm to get pregnant? No! All they need is to that dick shoved up there and cum.
ReplyDeleteWell, and, of course, that is all facetious sarcasm. Hell, men have been singing about getting off for decades!! "Squeeze my lemons til the juice runs down my leg." for example. LOL. Oh, our parents and the Christian right were appalled by that song, wanted it banned and all that conservative shit. We must learn to not take the conservative stance too seriously - they crow to keep an audience. xoxo
Hahaha.
DeleteIt's scandalous. How dare they? But it's sadly the matra of the conservative dude. The conservative mindset is absolutely flabbergasting, but they make money off of being so backwards.
And I didn't know Led Zeppelin was that cool! One more for my list!
XOXO
Ben Shapiro. How is it he's not in jail, yet? Whatta dick. Personally? I can't wait until he's caught with one in his ugly mouf.
ReplyDeleteHe's one of the 'best minds' in the conservative movement. He's 'known' for his debating skills -hahaha- but to me he looks like that little boy in Children of the Corn and behaves like him, too. His arguments are null. He walked out of an interview with Andrew Neil on the BBC because he could not argue when he was called on his bullshit.
DeleteOnly in America he's considered 'smart'.
XOXO
Actually, like Bob, I haven't heard it either. I don't listen to the radio... at all.
ReplyDeleteHa! Of course you haven't.
DeleteOh, I don't listen to commercial radio either.
Haven't for years. But I keep my ear to the ground...
