Just a few posts ago I was commenting on something related to this. Yeah, Michael and I are telepathic. Or maybe it's just that there's an undercurrent of commonalities between us all? I have no idea. But when I watched this I both laughed and nodded along.
Because this is a question that I've often asked myself: why is it that so many .gay men think that it's more outrageous to kiss a man in public than suck his dick in an alleyway? (or the Dick Dock, thanks, Maddie!). It's always baffled me. To no end. And don't get me wrong, it's not slut shaming. I'm all for being as slutty as possible because why not? You only live once...
What I think confuses me a little is the fact that some gay men are more than willing to suck a nice dick at the drop of a trouser in, let's say, a public park or public bathroom or even a parking lot (I have witnessed that one, I promise). But those same gay men will not kiss their man in public or hold hands with him because it's too 'showy' or 'uncomfortable' or plain 'gross' (all answers I've gotten, btw). Why the dichotomy? Could any of you explain that to me? Thankyouverymuch.

I believe there are two reasons, one very profound, and the other more visible (literally).
ReplyDelete1. kissing is much more intimate than a blow job. In fact, some men give and receive blowjobs but they don't kiss.
2. When you're in an alley, nawc to give or receive a blowjob, I assume you're there to cum like a pig without letting others see you. But if you kiss your partner on the street, others see you and we certainly can't say that homophobia is a completely overcome problem.

How else is the public, and the Gay community, ever going to move beyond the trauma of having to hide? Public sex, never a great interest of mine. Not to say it never happened, just that it was the heat of the moment and not something I went out looking for.

DeleteI think you are right: it's related to that ingrained reflex to hide. When people have been jailed (and killed) for being queer, there' some kind of collective PTSD.

I have noticed when I do kiss make out, or hold hands or cuddle it's only been with people that I'm really really into or if I'm in a relationship. I guess with me the sex part almost seems like a more routine thing I guess. Now you got me thinking about this and why.
