spring/summer

Oh yes. Nothing like the fashion season to bring gratuitous displays of beauty to the forefront. I'm all for tons and tons of incredibly handsome men flooding media outlets. And of course, these fantastic men come clothed in the latest trends. Trends that may not be seen by many, because we are not to go and socialize with tons of people just yet, natch.

I also particularly and thoroughly enjoy gratuitous displays of homoeroticism. And why shouldn't I? And why shouldn't you? After all, gay men are voracious consumers of fashion, either on us or on other men. We all like to look at pretty things, even if we are not going to personally enjoy them. Just look at your local watering hole. Oh, wait. You can't because we are in the middle of a pandemic, made worse in America by the Orange Buffoon in the White House.

But the rest of the world keeps going 'round. Business not as usual, though. Notice that most of these videos represent the times we are living in right now. They were created in a bubble. Very meta. A bubble within a bubble. The bubble of fashion shown in a bubble of isolation. Most of these videos also have disclaimers that tell us that the people shown were tested for COVID-19. If you wanted a sign of the times, that's one.

The subjects here are either on their own or with someone, but always kind of separated from the crowds you'd come to expect in a fashion show, or the world as we knew it. They are bubbled away in their own worlds. Secluded and eerily separated from everyone else. And we, as consummate voyeurs, just keep watching. Watching life go by has become a sport in the times of pandemic, because we are looking at life through our windows, distanced from what we knew as routine.

And it's going to be a spectator sport for a little longer. These ideas are supposed to be for 2021, when we will hopefully have a vaccine, a better treatment, a new administration that will put people first. So maybe, just maybe we will be able to see these trends on the streets, on real people doing everyday things. It's up to us.

So don't forget to vote. And vote Blue, no matter who. Because your future depends on it, no matter what happens.

XOXO

P.S. Oh, you thought this post was not going to be political because it had scantily clad men in it? I'm laughing.

  1. What a great way to wake up! The gentleman in the opening video is stunning. The contrast of the white leggings (?) against his skin is wonderful.

And what would spring and summer be without scantily clad young men in their prime? Since we can’t go to the beach these videos are the next best thing.

    1. Hahaha. Always trying to make your day better...
And yes, that first video is fantastic. I think those are full-on pants, though.
Scantily clad young men is something everybody needs in their lives. Especially at the beach.

  2. Well, that was nice, and a great way to remind folks to vote ...once they are done being reminded about other things!

    1. I thought the same!
The first one is very Herb Ritts. The second one was co-sponsored by the French fashion counsel. They did a great job. I was reminded of that Pet Shop Boys video with the boys frolicking in a pool ...

  5. I love mixing things up... you do that so well. Come for the beefcake, stay for the bit of wisdom! I'm about as fashion forward as your average cow. That said... I put those other cows to shame! Strutting my tired old stuff at the prairie. But, alas. Not this year. Thanks to the orange ogre and his bungled covid-19 response. I mean, come on... how difficult was that? Just let the science guys do all the talking and take all the credit! But, noooo.... Way to ruin my summer, Donald. The only upside to this whole thing? His re-election chances at this juncture? Pretty wounded. Just like my summer.

      Thanks, Upton!
Strutting your stuff is always recommended (at any prairie!) but you are right. The pandemic is fucking things up. And Cheeto is not helping. Hope his reelection hopes are as fucked up as his response to Covid-19.

  6. I do miss fashion everyday...and even when I am home I still dress, ok naked a lot too, and when I go out, even to the market I get all dressed up...even veiled I may meet my next husband, you never can tell, while standing there sixing up the cucumbers. I used to do post of me mixing and matching outfits...but they were definitely time consuming. Two reader still want me to do one or two again. But I am also not opposed to living in square cuts either. Im having my metro lumber jack neighbor over again for tomorrow for dinner. I wonder if he'd mind he just wearing an apron? I mean it is to be around 94 degrees I believe.

Im dying to get into your...closest. now off to view these vids.

    1. OMG same!
I have tried to keep a routine and get dressed even if it's in shorts and a t-shirt. And going to Trader Joe's is now an event. I've even thought of going shopping for some cute cloth masks.
And you know that neighbor is going to enjoy the visit more if you're in your square cuts... or just the apron. Hope you enjoyed the videos!

  7. I can appreciate fashion, but never got caught up into it much. I'm pretty basic. In these times of pandemic between working out, routines, and swimming, I'm going to have a real problem getting back into clothes. I'm digging the sweat pants from the first video to mostly lounge in. I tend to like my fall fashion the best. Nothing like a good leather jacket.

    1. Fashion is cool to watch. I don't have the means or patience to follow it.
And the pandemic has increased my use of athleisure clothing an 80%. I swear I have not wear pants and a belt and a button down shirt in monts!
Those pants in the Thom Browne video? A dream.
And you are right. NOTHING like a man in a good leather jacket.
