Meet me at the ice cream truck
When Cazwell came out with Ice Cream Truck ten years ago (!!!) in August. Holy shit. Does time fly or what? Where were you ten years ago? I was on Tumblr, doing microblogging and being smutty and one of the gifs from the video was my avvie. Isn't it funny how time flies? I thought it was one of most fun videos I've seen that year. The men were yummy and the song
When I posted that video, there was a huge response. You have to remember that ten years ago Tumblr was starting, people got to be Tumblr famous (oh dear, I had I don't know how many 'followers'!) and it was the gayest place online. It was, for real. It was full of sex, music and freedom. All kind of queer people were creating all kind of cool content, queer kids kept day to day vlogs of their lives and their transitions and their joy was palpable. Those were the days before Tumbler was tamed and converted into a slightly less bland Pinterest.
So to me, the song has that energy: it's playful, sexy, fun. Now that we are in the very last warm days of this cruel summer (it's almost October, people!) I wanted to gather those last feelings of freedom, of fun, of sun soaked days and put them in this post. It has not been an easy, carefree summer. Last year we could not have predicted that this summer there would not be beach days or barbecues at the park or get together with friends from May to July.
I did not chill with an iced tea or watermelon icees at Lickity Split, my favorite ice cream store in Chicago. No sidewalk chilling, no rainbow sprinkles in the sun this year. Still, the spirit of Summer lives in this song. For real. I think I prefer the original, though. The men there give me just the right amount of heat. Who am I kidding? It's men with very few clothes on. It's my favorite kind of music video. Gimme!

maddie's milkshake brings all the houseboyz to her yard! like dat ass in the blue shorts...
ReplyDeleteAnd this is true.
DeleteI’ve seen that ass and yep, that’s a milkshake!
XoXo
I prefer the original version, myself, and, maybe it's just me, but I loathe twerking ...male or female.
ReplyDeleteOh yes!
DeleteIt’s sexier, IMHO. Kinda grittier but much more fun.
And I really like watching muscular men in tiny speedos shake their butts. I do.
XoXo
Pass
ReplyDeleteBut.. but.. Conde, it’s ice cream!
DeleteLoL

We have a store here in Minneapolis called Lickety Split. It's a porn shop where all the strippers by their boots and outfits. I used Tumblr for the porn. When they got all high and mighty and banned that content? I was like buh-bye. You don't bite the hand that feeds you views. It's funny how platforms come and go. I remember my first website - on YAHOO! LOL. This vid is fun. So very very gay... which is as it should be. Thanks for sharing and the memory jog.
ReplyDeleteOhhh now, that’s the kind of store that sounds like fun!
DeleteI liked Tumblr because of the freedom. The porn was the icing on the cake. My Tumblr was one of the ones the went when thy did their homogenized cleaning. I told them to go fuck themselves.
And you had a Yahoo website? Sweet!
I used to have MySpace. So much fun.
XoXo
LOL. Yeah, I'd give almost anything to be able to whip out my drumstick and let someone lick it so it melts.
ReplyDeleteThe end of Summer. 😒 And I just hate winter, the cold and all the hours of darkness.
I retreated from Tumblr shortly after signing up. The NewTumbl held my interest - unfortunately, it could easily turn into a rabbit hole. So, I abandoned that, too. Now I just do the blog rounds here....and I love it because of fellow bloggers like you, Maddie, Bob, and Upton. xoxo
Haha.
DeleteOh, Big. Same. But it’s the pandemic, so no watermelon icey from a hot Puerto Rican. And I also dread winter and the long, dark days.
I had fun on Tumblr. I was there until they shut it down my blog because the dong parade was relentless. They wanted a ‘family’ site. It didn’t happen.
I love it here. You guys are awesome and I love to read what you have to say!

I remember that song well and used those three gifs also in a blog post that had to do with a very hot summer. It was hotter then hell that summer I do remember that. I followed my tumblrs. Many even left blogger to go their only to have tumblr "crack down". Bitches. My favorite Caswell song was a song he did with Amanda Lepore, called Marylin.
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha
DeleteSame wavelength again! That song was a bop! And I was one of those who left long format for microblogging and got shut down when they decided porn was too much for them. Fuck them. They lost all the money they invested on that site.
And his songs with La Lepore are iconic! She is his muse.

Ah the songs of summer. Always fun and bouncy (“Call Me, Maybe”). This is the lost summer in a lost year. It’s greT to take the way back machine for a ride. This was a great video with lickable boys.
ReplyDeleteThe way things are shaping up politically we may one day look back fondly on this summer.
XOXO 👨❤️💋👨
Haha
DeleteCall me Maybe was so much fun!
This summer has been so.... disconcerting? A summer that did not feel like summer at all. And yes, all those boys are very lickable.
I remember Tumblr loved them. I don’t even remember how many people followed my Tumblr.
XoXo
very nice and funny
ReplyDeleteWasn’t it?
DeleteIt’s such a fun video.
XoXo
That is so cute!!
ReplyDeleteHaha it is!
DeleteIt’s kind of innocent but then those boys start gyrating.
