Oh, Austin

This interview is old (in porn, six months is old, two years is prehistoric) but still, worth the time. I don't think we take enough time to get to know our porn stars. Isn't it ironic that the men who bare it all off for the cameras (and our enjoyment) are the people we know less about? I think the most interesting part of a porn actor is who they are. I have stopped watching videos of porn performers who have fucked it up (in my eyes): Colby Keller, Dillon Anderson, Jack Porter, Ryan Rose, Billy Santoro and many others.

Oh, you have no idea who those are? Well, I try to get to know my porn stars because I won't watch porn made by racist, stupid, abusive men. I'd rather watch amateur porn filmed with an iPhone (which, incidentally can be as hot or hotter than studio porn) but made by gay men for gay men. The thing is, the tubes are full of great unproblematic gay porn stars who turn out hot, great scenes. So why not rub one out to the good guys?

Enters Mr. Wolf. He's one of those men who looks larger than life on screen. Well, he's 6'5" (yum!) so there's that. He also appears to be this mountain of a man, but in the interview he comes across as paused and almost sweet. Funny, right? How when a man starts speaking we make an image of how he is in our mind. I'll have to say that I'm aware of Mr. Wolf because of some brouhaha awhile back where he seemed to have joined the mile-high club with a Delta flight attendant. Porn stars. They're just like us.

In any case, Austin Wolf. He's apparently got a boyfriend, two doggies, and works a lot. No, he's not going to win a Nobel prize any time soon, but he's cool. As with many gay porn stars, he's aware that it's not a profession that lasts forever and he seems down to earth and even sweet. Self- awareness. Who knew? He talks about moving to New York and basically flourishing. He talks about fearing rejection, being a horrible dancer and how he discovered that being really tall does have its advantages.

And of course it's not easy being hot: six days a week, twice a day you'd have to hit the gym to look like that. Well, that's after years of exercising. He talks about all the effort that took him to go from a lanky adolescent to a porn god. Apparently it's a lot of work to pack those muscles. He likes his hands, his chest and he would take his shirt off at the drop of  hat. And I'm not mad. Not at all. Men like him should be naked very, very often.

It was interesting listening to him talking about things you don't hear porn stars usually talking about (the industry, tabloids, his family and many other things) and it's illuminating. It's fun getting to see a little bit more about porn stars, no? After all it's interesting to see the 'other side' of someone who does not seem to hide anything for the camera. And Mr. Wolf does not leave anything to the imagination. His oeuvre is in the tubes, if you're interested. I'd recommend his amateur/only fans output. It's very... enthusiastic.
