Ho Ho Ho

I don't think I want a lot for xmas this year. I was reading Upton and I could not agree more. There's not much I covet right now. Even though I did manage to put together a wish list for some friends who asked, I think what I'm getting is probably more than enough. Like Upton said, I don't want a drawer full of things I will never use. I think I'm getting some personal care products, some new sneakers and a membership to The Arboretum. And that's going to be all. And you know what? I don't think I need much else.

I got people asking 'what do you want these holidays?' and I really could  not come up with something that did not feel superfluous or just disposable. Clothes, that usually get me started, did not mean much this time around. I am not really getting dressed up to go to work these days, so there's really not an incentive. Records? I like to go crate digging myself and getting good deals. Books? yeah, they're a good bet, but apart from a few titles, I would have to finish the ones I'm reading now before I embark in a new one. I don't think I need anything for the house. I think I've got everything covered on that front. So coming up with things for this xmas needed some thinking.

Am I being just too difficult? 2020 has not been an easy year. You'd think I'd enjoy some silly little gift to lift my spirits (apart from the Mini from Maddie and the Mask4mask mask from Lurkie!). But I think what's making me happy these days is knowing the people I know and love are ok. That I'm not having problems at work (not having to see my boss face to face really, really helps!) and that I'm healthy during the pandemic (which seems to be quite the achievement, taking into account we're spiking as I type).

So maybe I'm going to go back and revise that RuPaul song. Who knows? I may find out I really want some of that for next year... maybe lipo? Hey, after all the Panettone I'm having this year, I may need it!

XOXO

  1. Like you, I’m usually hard pressed to come up with a list. Usually through the year, if I want/need something I buy it. That’s why in my family we went to a gift card grab bag. Everyone who wants to participate brings a $25 card and then we draw one out. However, if you saw one that you want that someone else drew, you can steal it before you draw from the pot.

But there’s no family gathering this year. Just a subdued “celebration.”

Be safe and have a Merry Christmas, Sugar!

    XOXO 👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨

  2. I don't want anything, really. We have more than enough. So we've donated food and clothing to out local homeless shelter instead. We'll have a lovely day together, a nice meal, and take the dog for a walk in the park; that's all I want ... except for Peace on Earth.

    1. I know, right?
Oh, giving to charity is soooooo awesome. I did a little for a food bank.
And same here. A nice dinner and maybe a walk along the lake later in the afternoon. It's gonna be super cold here so it may be a short walk...
And Peace on Earth would be such an awesome present...

  3. The older ya get, the less ya need. Or want. I'd prefer to begin downsizing - getting rid of things. Cause, goddess knows, we have a lot of useless stuff tucked away in boxes and on shelves. We're foregoing it all this year as far as gifts or gatherings are concerned. If someone asked me, I'd be very hard pressed to give an answer. Though, the live-in masseur Maddie gave me will be extremely appreciated. 😉

For everyone here: Have yourselves a wonderful Christmas (if you celebrate it). XOXO

    1. Well, perhaps I should clarify that. There are things I want, but if they managed to get done I'd land in federal prison, so..... 😁💋💋💋

    2. Hahaha you'd land in federal prison, huh, Big?
What on earth are you planning on having that masseur do?

Getting rid of things is sooooooo awesome...
And I'm not celebrating xmas exactly. I'm celebrating celebrating LOL

  4. I tried chocolate chip panettone this year for the first time - YUM!

I got a card table for xmess; not to play cards, but to work on my large knitting projects that are too damn big for my lap.

season's greetings and plenty of booze for the rest of the year!

  7. You're reading Upton Sinclair? I am very impressed. I don't use this holiday to buy myself anything special, I usually do that whenever I want something and Social Security pays for it. Thank you for being a loyal reader, that's a very good present! Oh, and here's a little bit about Upton. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Jungle

    1. Oh, Upton our blogger friend, Dave. But I do love Sinclair's The Jungle and Dragon's Teeth would come handy for people to read now. It would help people understand what Socialism is if he were read more often, TBH.
And thank YOU for dropping by and making me laugh. Hope Biggie enjoys his ice cream!

  8. I didn't ask for anything....and when friends asked i said nothing. I just want everybody to be safe and happy as they can in these times. I know Daddy. Warbucks sent something...and when i opened it up...... That man has a excellent memory. It showed up Monday before I left to head home. I could have melted....and even shead a tear...because he is always beyond silly...so for him to include words like that got to me and made me feel lucky to have people in my life like him.

I will receive some gifts not many but it's the time ill spend with my little family and two friends that i will enjoy.

    Merry Christmas my dear Sixpense.🎄🎄🎄
