I love Troye Sivan. And when I saw he was showing his Melbourne house, well, I knew I had to come and post about it here. Well, that and because John Michael was talking about getting his own house, and I realized that I could probably start thinking about something like that for sometime in the not so near future? Is it time for me to grow up? The notion of 'having  a house' is something I have not thought of often. I'm very comfortable the way I am and I feel no hurry to tie myself to a property in that way, but I have to accept that the thought can be tempting.

My dream house could looks a lot little like Troye's, all full of history (it really is an old property) and with that courtyard!!!! I love the super high ceiling in the sitting room (did you see that he's literally got a tree in his living room? *goals*). His seating arrangement is super cool (and isn't it sweet he worries about where that coffee table came from?) and the overall vibe of the house is airy yet welcoming. I agree that those lamps do give a cozy feeling. I have like a hundred lamps strewn throughout the basement garden apartment and I love it. I do have overhead lighting but I prefer the moody light lamps give a place.

I also like the idea of the reading nook. He literally read my mind. Having a place in your house dedicated to just sitting and reading (or doing nothing) is a joy. Love his bedroom and his bathroom and how he's got little sculptures (that I bet are super expensive) everywhere? The house is artsy but not stuffy. It's obviously been set up with taste but it looks like someone lives there. His personality seems to be all around the house: it's the little details, like he's got tons of books with homoerotic themes ALL OVER. A boy after my own heart.  And did you check out where they put the washroom that used to be next to the kitchen??? Love!

If I ever get my own house, I think I'd like something open like this. Goddess! Now I only need the money. And moving to Australia.

XOXO

P.S. Troye's Bloom is one of my fav songs.

  1. Well, I love this. I love the courtyard and the light and the kitchen. It gives me industrial vibes, along with the naturalness of the wood and stone. Plus, it's not so large and could be lived in, every single inch!

    1. I know, right? It's such a dreamy combo.
The courtyard would be a dream. And you are right, it's not a MacMansion, so it feels homey.

  2. Well, I could easily live in that place. Gorgeous. Not a thing about I don't love. Big windows, high ceilings. He lets the art provide the splashes of color. His eclectic taste matches mine. I wanted to see more of that bathroom, though. I admit, I have never been anywhere that someone has told me, "You have to see the toilet!" So, I needed to see it and.... LOL. The books everywhere - yes! A man who reads. When he mentioned music - Yep. Our house is completely wired inside and out, and each set of speakers can be individually controlled: On/Off, and volume. Thanks for this tour! XOXO

    1. The windows and the ceilings. Totally.
And I have been to places (especially restaurants!) where people go, 'you NEED to see the bathroom'. Also, some clubs in New York have washrooms that you wanna take home.
And I love the idea of a wired house. Here where I live the previous owners had a sound system that goes through the house, but we have never used it. When I listen to my records, it stays with me.

  3. Owning a home gives you a nice nest egg when it comes to retirement. Equity is a very good thing, and real estate prices will continue to slowly rise.

    1. That's what I've thought.
As an investment, it's a smart move. Especially because I don't plan on having children (knocks on wood) and I am going to need some money to find someone to lend me a hand ....

  4. I like him. His music. House ownership? Hmm. I must say. Going it alone? I know a lot of gays who do and do amazingly well. They have that drive. They have that determination. Me? NO. If it weren't for the crazy ex who has to have something to do ever second of every day? Mi Casa would fall into disrepair and become the neighborhood eyesore. I am honest with myself. I don't think owning a house is for me, by myself. It's not for me and the boyfriend either, as neither of us is all that gung-ho about 'doing things' around the house. I painted his basement. I do the gardens in the front and side. And I clean. Period. Home ownership is so much more. And, if you want to get well-acquainted with debt and deadbeat contractors? Then, yes, home ownership is for you! I know, I know... why I gotta be like 'this'? I am just a cloud of reality on an otherwise sunny day. :) Kizzes.

    1. That's why I love you! Tell it. But many of the reasons you mention are why I don't have a home. There is ALWAYS something that needs done.

    2. Oh, his music is super cool. Have followed his career for awhile.
And I'm with you. The idea of taking care a house 's needs makes me dizzy. Home ownership has sooooo many responsibilities! Maybe if I marry an architect?

    3. Oh, repairs can be daunting at times. But, overall...it's not that terrible if you sock a little maintenance money away each month. I am not a handy guy. The wife sees a screwdriver or wrench in my hand her immediate response is, "What do you think you're going to do???" LOL. So, we pay to get those small things done. XOXO

  5. I love it. I love when old and new, and cold and warm can come together. The living room alone was stunning, chic, but yet comfy. I always tell people too, if they don't have a lot of bric and brac...get good lights and let it set the tone. His lights and lighting are great and art in themselves. Didn't like the bedroom though, too cold.. but the loft? YASSSS!

Good thing this wasn't a private tour....I would have had him in bed nailing him...unless he wanted to nail me! His eyes and lush hair, alone, distracted me.....

    1. I know! Chic is a word that perfectly describes his style.
I think he's managed a great balance of artistic and comfortable.
And he's adorable. . His eyes! His accent!
