I Adore

Hi.
I stole this from Upton, because he has the best quizzes and because of course I did. And I kinda modified it a little because I've decided I did not have any 'Deplore' to talk about. Yeah, I'm in a positivity streak this month, I guess. Yay me. It's all about self-care these days for me. And no, it's not that I have fallen into Shadow Work by accident. My Inner Child has always been on the loose, thank you very much. It's just that while trying to respond to Upton's quiz, I realized I really don't have a ton to Deplore. I guess I should count that as a plus. So here we go:

1/ What's in your refrigerator?

I have gotten into making sure I have a ton of fruit in the refrigerator. I've been trying to give the chips and the pistachios a rest because I was munching too many calories while Netflix and chilling. I've discovered those little containers with pre-sliced fruit that last me a week and I'm totally into them. This apparently also helps me curb having to get rid of food that's too old but that was left uneaten. Not even I can eat a whole pineapple!

2/ What's in your freezer?

Lately, I have gotten into Mochi ice cream. I know, I'm probably late to the trend but it is what it is, right? There's something about its consistency and flavor that fascinates me. Also, my doctor told me I should not eat too much ice cream (genetics, you know) and try to stay away from it. But the temptation is strong. I buy Mochi once in awhile. The advantage is that the portions are small and manageable.

3/ What's in your cupboard?

Apparently, I have a thing for cereal. To write this I had to go to my pantry and I discovered I have two unopened boxes of Muesli and two of shredded wheat I didn't remember I bought. I've been into oatmeal and fruit for breakfast these past weeks. I probably got them when I discovered I was into making my own mix because I like variety. I buy cereal and then put bits of each box into a glass container and then I shake it so I can get a little of everything all at once. I also discovered two almond milk boxes I forgot I had. Who knew I was a prepper at heart?

4/ What's in your closet?

I don't really have a 'closet'. Because my living arrangements are so particular, I have had to adapt spaces in my basement garden apartment that are not conventional closets. I have some clothes hanging in those hangers you see in stores out in the open and some clothes behind what was used to store things for the house. A boy has to make work with what he's given. So some clothes are out in the open and some are behind closed doors. At a glance, I could tell that my favorite pieces are my jackets and my ties. Because I wear a ton of jeans and combat boots, the jackets and the ties are basically the only way to make sure people notice that I actually changed clothes. LOL. I have not worn 'work clothes' in a year. I'm worried I'm not gonna fit in my pants when I go back to work. The dreaded Pandemic 19.

5/ What's in your bathroom?

I've totally gotten into this Tea Tree face wash from Trader Joe's and I'm loving it. Many years ago, when I used to have acne (oh, yes, I was one of those teens and I do not miss it) my dermatologist told me I should never go to bed without washing my face. I have followed her advice ever since because inside, I'm still fourteen and I have PTSD every time I see a tube of Clearasil. So I got this face wash and I'm loving it. It's tingly and it does not leave my face too squeaky. Heaven. I'm going to get the shower gel next time I go to Joe's.

6/ What's in your garage/shed/storage space/attic?

When we moved here I discovered that there was a bike rack in the garage and I was in heaven. For the longest time my little bike (I have an old-fashioned baby blue Schwinn bike that I got for free because somebody was getting rid of it but I could not let it go to waste and took it home with me) was parked in the balcony of the apartment where we lived. But now it has its own place. I think it's a luxury to have a dedicated space for my bike. I need to replace both tires, though, and oil the chain if I wanna ride it this summer. Those tires are beyond recovery at this point, natch.

7/ What's in your DVD/Video collection?

I just realized I don't have a DVD player. Or a VCR, for that matter. I have streamed movies for so long that I have never bothered to actually install a DVD player. I don't even know if there's' one in the house! I did discover that I have some DVDs: a Madonna concert, a Bjork video collection and the whole Noah's Arc series. I had no idea I had kept those. Right now, I can only watch those DVDs in my Mac.

8/ What's in your CD/Album/Music collection?

I just realized I don't have a CD player. I used to have a boombox but I think I gave it away. Now I can only play CDs in my car and I only play them when I go in long trips. I don't like the distraction of having to change them. But I love my vinyl record collection, though. I've realized I've become mainly analog when it comes to music. And I could not tell you which my favorite albums are. That changes weekend to weekend, when I go on music benders and jump from The Supremes to The Clash to The Beatles. What I discovered while writing this, though, is that I have most of Donna Summer's records. From Love to Love you Baby to Mistaken Identity, I have them all. I love her voice. Apparently, I also have eight Rolling Stones albums and five Culture Club records. And a lot of Prince.

9/ What's in your library?

What library? I just realized I use my bookcases to keep my mementos and that my books are stashed all over the house: under chairs, on top of tables and next to my bed. It's a mess. I also discovered I have a ton of Anne Rice books (a gift from a co-worker when he was cleaning his office added to the several I already had) and the whole Sookie Stackhouse series and all the Vampire's Apprentice books. I also have a ton of Stephen King, BTW.

10/ What's in your heart?

I'm still in some kind of quest, I guess. I think I have never stopped looking at the world within and around me. There's so much I have to learn about myself and about others that I think this exploratory phase is not going to end any time soon. Some may find that exhausting but I find it exciting. It gives me something new to learn every day, I guess? I don't know. It's not restlessness. It's more fascination with both mundane and more spiritual things that affect me and keep me on my toes.

And you? What's your inner child enjoying these days? Go ahead, I'm all ears.

XOXO

P.S. I adore Adore Delano so I made her the header and the closer in this post. I have several of her songs. From all the Ru girls, she's the one that always makes me smile. Also, she's gorge.

I adore you adore Adore....someone has too!

And yes...I was beyond appalled at last weeks down under with Art being sent home I think Ru might be slipping. and Blind. Coco looked like one hot mess! And having seen her work, Coco has brought all to the show already. The fine people of down under are not happy with Art being sent home already. Ru may not be invited back. And Art left....with one of the coldest shoulders and attitude to Ru I've seen. Course Ru will award a winner she can mold. Thats why she's getting more back lash from past queens. Hence why Rose never would have won.

    1. I love your list!
I also love floral patterns in my ties. So pretty! And Roz Russell IS Auntie Mame. No question.
I read The Naked Civil Servant when I was a teen and I have never looked back. You have no idea how many gaylings have been saved by that book.
And I was surprised by Art Simone's elimination but her Snatch Game was abysmal. I could not believe it was the same person who was in the confessionals!
I just saw that Coco had to lip-synch agains Elektra. And I think Art will be ok. Being in the show alone is huge.

    2. Oh yes Art will be fine. She is after all ART. Walking Art. I suppose you know Coco's faith? But again, it is one problem I have with the show. No queen can do all these challenges, in their wheel houses. Art's strong suit isn't acting. So I don't think these challenges are always fair. The show should be based more like Pose, with stand off performances and looks to me.

    3. Well, as you predicted, Coco did another lip sync.
I think that the show delivers on it mission, though: the next drag superstar needs to at least know how to do all those things (think Trixie, Bianca, Bob, Alaska) because they are going on to create their own micro-empires. Art would be awesome in All Stars Down Under, for example. And she'd bowl over the competition.

  6. I, too have read all the sookie stackhouse books. The author also started a detective series, but I only read one of those. The work wife got me started on those. Thanks for the shout out and for doing the quiz. Glad you are in a positive space. I try. But never am. Baggage? Probably. I have all of Donna on Vinyl, plus CDs of all her later stuff. I went through a period of finding all her one-offs. She really became selective about releasing stuff in the latter part of her career, but what she did release, I love. Adore Crayons. We are very similar, again. But food... I can't do ice cream at all anymore. My stomach cramps and makes me miserable, so switched to sorbet or all fruit smoothies. LOVED cereal, but can't eat it because I am having sugar level issues... like hypoglycemia? I have to be very careful not to eat empty calories. So I stick to greens, veggies, fruit and grains. I get in trouble with over-processed foods. You the best, boo. Wishing you the best on your quest. Kizzes.

    1. I got into Charlaine Harris with True Blood, and I also read her detective series!
And trust me, I've had my LOW valleys. It's just that I have been on a positive spree these last years. I think in her last records she recorded some cool songs. I don't have Crayons. I may have to go to YouTube and listen to it and see if I like it. I don't do much ice cream anymore either. Same with beef and whole milk. Hypoglycemia is a bitch.
Sticking to greens, frits and grains is such a good idea!
