Oh, Yves

In his own words:

M

"Often mistaken for an ex-convict or a drug dealer with his body and face covered in tattoos, activist and artist Yves Mathieu East has a list a mile long of all the ways he gives back to a world that has repeatedly let him down, simply for being who he is. Having been bullied and outcast throughout his life as a closeted gay kid, Yves found his power and calling when he courageously overcame addiction after coming out at 16. Now, he channels his outrage into a tender-hearted and fervent activism, both on the front lines of BLM protests (where in 2020 he traveled to 26 states across the country, was arrested 12 times and jailed 4), and online, where he uses his Instagram to pay homage to everyone marginalized, especially Trans individuals, giving them the respect and dignity in death that they should have received in life. This is the story of a lover whose spirit will not rest until all who are forgotten (including pitbulls), are cared for and loved. "

we do not choose to be born who we are, we can heal the world by choosing to stand proudly in our skin and accept each other to the core.

P.S. He's one of the most attractive men I've seen lately. I gave in to my implicit bias and had to watch the video and check his Insta to learn that there's substance beneath that handsome facade. And no, I don't mind the tats or the piercings. Remember, we should never judge a boy by his cover.

  1. What an amazing story. All that he’s been through and opening himself up to the possibilities before him. What an inspirational man. Thank you for sharing him with us. And you’re right, he is yummy.

    1. Oh, It's clear it's clear it's been a journey for him, bae. He is inspirational. And yummy. LOL.

  2. Good for him and what an inspiration. And those eyes! It's nice to see one overcome and go on to do good things. I tried not to look.... But again, I will never understand that level of tattooing. When he is old, I can't imagine what that is going to look like. To each their own...if he enjoys it thats all the matters.

    1. He's been through it.
I find people who came come through to the other side of addiction quite interesting. And his eyes!
I think that people who are old really DGAF about their tattoos. Really. The same way we stop caring about many other things in life. And I agree with you. If it makes him happy...

  3. too much ink on, but never disgusting like Logan McCree (see here )

    1. Ha!
I"m sure he'd disagree with the 'too much ink' because I imagine it's relative. I think that a sleeve is 'too much ink'. Logan McCree wishes he were as interesting as Yves, though. He's ugly in the inside.

    2. Anyone who "wears" too much ink doesn't think he has "too much ink". This is obvious: if he thought he had too much ink on, he wouldn't have tattoed so extensively. If anything, there is a difference: the ink on Yves' skin is less disturbing because it stands out less than Logan's white skin. It is also really an optical question!

  4. I am a 'to each his own' gay, but the face tattoos kinda bug me. I have tattoos, and I love them, but sometimes I think there's a reason behind the excess.

    1. Face tattoos kinda get to me too. But because of my bias towards them (gangs, etc) and because I know how much a tattoo can hurt and I cannot imagine having that done on MY face.
And everybody has a reason for his body art (I know why I had mine done) and you are right, to each his own. I would slap whomever would come for me cause I have a mantra tattooed in my arm...

  5. "...we can heal the world by choosing to stand proudly in our skin..."
I finally got the courage to ask someone with tatts like his why they feel the need to cover up. His answer: "I'm too ugly not to."
I wonder if this has been Yves issue - he was made to feel ugly and so he did what he could to change.
The latest outrage and BLM cause: The Louisiana man who police murdered more than 2 years ago and details are now coming out. If it wasn't a 21st Century lynching, I don't know what is. This is one fucked up country we're in, isn't it? XOXO

    1. Oh, he's been through it, it's obvious.
Both as a man of color and as a queer man. He seems to have lived intensely, and he's young! We only see the beautiful facade, the symmetry of the face and body.
Being a Black person in America has always been a liability. The discovery of yet another Black man killed -from behind- is indeed a lynching.

    1. I think the same.
I was impressed by his obvious physical beauty. That's why I stopped to gawk. His story kept me listening. People in a mission to unmask injustice are very interesting to me.

    1. And that's what called my attention.
The helping others without much interest in being compensated is something we don't really see often.

  9. I AM IN LURVE (Again!) - Wow. All that and an old soul. Adore. I love that his life is right there on his skin for all to see... that's a journey. That's a roadmap worth exploring. :) Thanks for sharing. You find the most amazing mens. I will be thinking about his lips all day today... damn. Kizzes.

    1. That's what I thought, too!
He's young but his ideals are those of an older, more lived-in man. I thin it's his life experience, so condensed and intense, what gives him that outlook.
And that's how I saw his tattoos as well: evidence of his living. And the fact that he's so obviously attractive is just the icing on that cake.

      XOXO
