Modern Victorian Apothecary

I want him. Well, I want him AND his apartment. I'm greedy. So go ahead, sue me.

The thing is, when it comes to dĂ©cor, I've learned that the rule is that there's no rules. What may seem Baroque and overwhelming to some, it's cozy and homey for others. I should know, because I think  I'm always looking for that balance between the personal and the pretty. It could be hard to find. But if your house makes you happy, then you can get away with almost anything, from the most minimalist abode to a collector's dream.

Ryan's apartment is what I've heard Maddie call a 'jewel box': those apparently small spaces that seem to carry all the personality of whomever is habiting them through details. The artwork, the curiosity cabinets, the nine windows, the feeling of 'city' that transpires in every corner. This apartment has it all.

This is a city apartment, that's for sure. And the idea of picking everything we like and then whittle it down to pieces we really like is actually very good advice. Surrounding ourselves with the things that are dearest to us (as Marie Kondo would say: the things that give us joy) is a very good strategy. That's what's helped me through a year and a half of pandemic, to tell you the truth. I'm surrounded by things I love and that are meaningful to me. I don't know if other people would like them or the way I've organized them, but I do.

Again, could I have Ryan? I have a project for him. And no, it does not involve my washer and dryer. Nope.

XOXO

I never thought like that until I had the gallery wall I have now.

  2. I love his sense of style, but the living room is too much for me; my mind goes to, 'Who's gonna dust everything?'
I love the kitchen, though, and the bedroom.
    And he's an adorable morsel.

    1. Yes, the style is fantastic.
I think he's done a great job with the space he's got. The bedroom is kind of another side of him.
      And adorable he is!

  3. I too love those!!! There is a lot in there and for me personally, I would need less, but what I like about places like this is that is it's fun to explore and find all the neat things and little surprises.... He has done a good job with arranging and placing it all. I luaghed where he said a saves all his cards and such...Im the same way. I save all my cards and letters, and have already found some for 10 years ago. It's so cool. And he and I use the same method of coffee pot!!!!! I want him too!!!! I want to even just cuddle with him.

"I know the guys really good across the hall" I BET he does!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. Exactly!
I'd spend hours listening to his stories. The whole place is a conversation piece. And for such a small space, he's done a great job making sure each area speaks for itself.
Oh, gurrl. I also save my cards and letters!
And my mind raced when he mentioned the 'guys across the hall' too! LMAOOOO

  4. Bob's right, who's going to dust all of that stuff? Too tiny for me. You may be satisfied with a diamond, I want the crown.

Bet he's got a Swiffer at the ready. Most people with collections do. It's part of the fun.
And I see you're a size queen, huh?

  5. OMG... We take FOREVER to decide on a piece of furniture or a lamp or chandelier. It took us almost 2 years to decide on floor tile. LOL. And eclectic? Absolutely. But, I can say, his place is waaay too cluttered for me. I'd go nuts with all of that stuff lying around and absolutely zero white space on the walls. XOXO

I feel you. I'm more of a 'mood board' kind of person. I usually fall in love with something and just get it. His place could feel cluttered but I like how he decided to leave some areas more open.

  6. There is a lot to unpack/explore in this apartment. All the little Knick knacks are cute. But as has been said before THE DUSTING! But if I could have him come by to tidy up, I wouldn’t mind.

And he is NOT getting his deposit back.

He did a great job in the kitchen, though! And I don't mind the knicknacks. You know he's got a 'dusting day' scheduled.
Bet you'd like to take a look at his washer and dryer too! LOL

  7. You can have Ryan. I want to meet his Best Lesbian!

  8. Huh. More house porn. Okay... Ryan? Well... his voice. But then... I think I probably sound exactly like him, so... kettle beige, beyotch. His place? I need more breathing space. That is a lot of stimuli. My brain needs blank spaces to appreciate the one thing on the wall meant to draw my attention. It's like he's living in a collectible's shop where nothing's for sale. Good for him, if he's happy. I used to be like that. You travel for a long period of time with no roots? You get over possession obsession whether you want to or not. Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to see YOUR place, dear. I bet it's adorbs. Kizzes.

Yes! House porn is one of my favs. And I think this is something that is part of big city life. Apartments in big cities are not precisely spacious. And I like the story his walls tell. And I think that being uprooted often would promote some kind of minimalism, yes.
And you know my place! Talking about that, I have to post an update. LOL
