37 Hermès Boxes

I have to say that even though I like houses, I am more of an apartment person. I've lived in apartments more than in houses all throughout my life, so that may have influenced me. Also, even though I love clothes, I'd never buy a Hermès bag. Let alone a Birkin bag. That being said, Ryan does check all the other boxes for me.

First of all, I think it'd be fab to live in New York in Union Square. Yes, I do. I am used to apartment living and I know how apartments look in NY, so this is actually quite cool. I like the idea of having a 'landing' place for keys and bags and shoes (quick, get the salts for Maddie!). My place is also 'shoe free' because it's carpeted. The pets never come here. Ever. Under any circumstance.

I think that they did well with the kitchen. Very renter-friendly. I'm thinking about doing something like this in my bathroom. When you rent or when you do not have a ton of money, updating the hardware and making formica look fab are a must. A few touches here and there can make a difference.

I like the idea of having all your trinkets and mementos around you (you've seen my place) and the story of finding the bookends is typically me. I've found more than one treasure in other people's trash. Don't judge me. The idea of having a gallery wall is also one I like (see my place) as well as the idea of having a 'corner' for yourself. I have several of those. They have become super important during the pandemic, when I have had to create safe spaces throughout my basement garden apartment in order to keep the little sanity I have intact.

I found this tour very 'real' because this apartment is not overly curated. You can actually tell that people live here. People like you and I. And I like Ryan! Yes, I think he's super charming. Yes, I'd be tempted. Yes, I'd let the husband join in cause I'm slutty.

XOXO

P.S. his Instagram is so much fun!

  1. Good god, release the Maddie!!! CROCS!!!!!!!!!!
I like his house, it's rather simple and sort of minimalist.
That said, Honey, enough with the "air quotes."

    1. You know she's not gonna be happy! LOL
And yes, it is quite restrained. It's not big, so that's good.
And I noticed that too! Hahahaha

  2. Don't do bags, don't do crocs, and my house is my retirement packaged to top off my savings.

    1. I just pictured you walking around in crocs with little charms and a Birkin and I think I'm good.

  3. To be honest he got on my gay nerves a bit... but then it was over when I saw the CROS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO! I should beat his ass hard till he learns a lesson!!!!!! But like you I am more an apartment dweller mostly because I don't want to house responsibility. Something constantly need to be done. No thanks. But I do love his place...a lot. How cute was that red bulldog with the sunglasses? I just love the feeling of a New York apartment. I couldn't help notice either that he has taste in handbags from the most conservatives house of establishment.

    1. ut I agree with him on Hermes boxes. I snagged a few from the store when I was there...they make for excellent storage boxes to store little things or letters and such...sturdy and look pretty while sitting out. Storage is key in an apartment.

    2. Hahahahaha
He also has PHOTOS in his IG wearing them. He's a first class offender.
And I loved the red bulldog too! You are right. It's very NY.
His bags are fantastic, to tell the truth. Really.
I also love those boxes, TBH.

  4. I'm with Maddie...the guy quickly got on my nerves. But he's got a great!! place. Rather large for NYC, right? So, he obviously makes a good penny. But, then again, you have to to be able to live in NYC. XOXO

    1. Ha!
Yes, he could get on some people's nerves. I have some friends just like him, so I know where he's coming from. And that place is HUGE for the location! And it's spacious for the building, probably. It should not be cheap. They both should have good jobs.

  5. I like what he did with the kitchen. When you’re renting you don’t put a lot of your own money into upgrades. The contact paper counter covering and the backsplash came out very well.

From what I’ve seen of NYC apartments, this is a nice place for two, though the decor seems to be all about him. It could be that his husband gave him free reign, but it would have been nice to see some items related to him.

    1. I thought those were great renter solutions!
      The kitchen looks super cute.
And it IS a nice place for two. I think the husband is the less outgoing of the two, so it makes sense. In some of his pics, he's up front and the husband is in the background, reading a book or something. LOL

  6. He's adorable. You find the neatest stuff. I love their apartment. Why does he think that kitchen is tragic? I would kill to have that. And Union Square! I love all the white and all the light. He is a fun host, very glib. He would be an ideal brunch companion. His obsessions are interesting. I wonder where and what they spring from.

Now, I am with you. Trash can become a treasure. Back in the days of theatre, I was a dumpster diver, grabbing costumes and props and furnishings for productions, which, once the show closed, came home with me and got incorporated into my life. It was fun for awhile until it got to be too much. Now? I am super super super selective. And furnishings are out, because I don't want bedbugs.

I wish we lived in the same neighborhood.

Oh... guess what? I just bought my first vintage gay pulp fiction books... the actual ones. Some were a bargain (not in the greatest of shape), but I got my feet wet. I bought cheap ones because I want to see if it's something I want to get serious about. I found this vendor, who I am hoping to share soon on my blog. Anyway... I know you're interested in this... so I thought I'd share. :)

    1. Yes!
When I heard Union Square in NY I was like... HUNNY! And he should be a blast in a get together. I know people just like him and they are super entertaining.
I love the idea of repurposing stuff. My second apartment in college was literally furnished from the Goodwill and summer dumpster diving in my college town. I got a microwave still in the box!
And I love the idea of the vintage gay pulp books! OMG you need to post about them! I've seen some when I go thrifting but they are in very good condition and are collector's items.

  7. I can't lie, I love his place. And some of the objects and ideas.

But I got into the video about 8 minutes and couldn't take anymore. Can you say label whore and very pretentious??? Major turn off for me. While Maddie passed out over the crocs, it was the book I thought I saw of Mary Kate and Ashley Olson. If I was a guest in his home , Id be out in 20 minutes.

    1. The place is cute and they've organized it very well.
It's not huge but it's very serviceable.
And I think he could be a little too much for some, that's true! LOL
OMG I will have to watch again to see if I see the Olsen twins book! Hahahaha

      XOXO
