Having a style does not mean that someone is following 'fashion'. Being trendy does not mean that someone has style. I think men can have style and look good without looking like they just left Dior's or Louis Vuitton's runway and whomever would tell me different is full of shit. Everybody has a style. Hell, even Dad Jeans are part of Normcore

Another fallacy is that people need money to look good. People do not need a ton of money to look good. I'm convinced that a guy can buy his clothes at Sears, Target, Walmart, Sak's, Nordstrom or Henri Bendel (does that one still exist?) and he can still look good. Looking sloppy and disheveled is a choice (and a style, natch) but not one most people really enjoy. That's why I brough  Marcel Floruss today to be our guide (he's six-feet-two of  FINE! Damn long legs get me started). He shows basically how to make almost anything look good for the next three months. He uses well-known, affordable brands that can be mixed and matched with most anything a guy could already have in his closet. Just throw some accessories in the mix and you're ready to go.

So, did you get inspired? Do you see yourself wearing any of this? I know most people say couture is 'way too much', but really, this here is Main Street at its purest. No excuses, right? Get to it.

XOXO

P.S. Marcel does look good out clothes, too. Pity he seems to be straight.

  1. As you said a look is what you make of it. My look is “old clothes.” I don’t buy many and when I do it’s Target, Costco or Kohl’s. I buy what I like and that’s that, I don’t dress to impress. And since I’m working from home I just have to make sure I have a reasonably presentable shirt on.

And I didn’t know that renting “everyday” clothes was a thing.

    1. I didn't know renting street clothes was a thing, either. Hell, it was bad enough renting a tux for prom! LOL

    2. Oh, yeah.
Nobody 'has' to wear anything trendy or expensive. And yes, upcycling clothes is totally a thing and renting them is part of the whole cycle. Who knew, right?

  2. I don't really pay attention to influencers since they're getting paid to sell products, as he, himself says, regarding some of his sponsors as he drops a lot of 'name' brands.

    1. Everybody who talks about something they were given or are paid to show need to disclose it. Otherwise they get fined.
And those are not 'name brands'. LOL Prada, Gucci and Armani are name brands. Influences just show stuff. It's up to the consumer to decide if they buy it. BTW, style cannot be bought.

  3. If I looked like Marcel I would only, ever, always wear underwear wherever I went.
I wear what I like, popular thought be damned.

      Same. He's very charming, too.
And that's called style. Wearing what's popular is being trendy (which is not always flattering).

  4. I love him! I don't follow him and have seen his page many time on Instagram. And sadly almost all those looks from the video look like me. I always thought fashion is what you want it to be. And fashion should not have rules. Hell, I have worn my high things with my $2.00 thrift finds.

And yes, sadly Henri Bendel is shuttered. It was my all time favorite department stores in New York. I was there for the final days where a cute guy working there gave me one of there hat boxes......sigh...........

    1. Yeah, if you follow anybody similar or like any fashion item, he'll probably pop up. It's the algorithm. And you are right: fashion is what you want it to be and the rules there are are to be broken (hence the jacket with shorts).
Henri Bendel was fab. Once, when I was in NY I went there and was fascinated.

  5. Style doesn't need money. Heck Thrift Store finds can be a style. So, no you don't need a lot of money. But HE sure as hell does have it - and spends it, too. Some of those brands he touts are not cheap. Can you say Piaget, boys and girls? Sheesh. And, renting everyday street clothes???
Me? I'll stick with my 501s and my on-sale, $10 Kenneth Cole t-shirts. That's my style. XOXO

    1. Absolutely.
And he's got style. It helps that he's built like an athletic runway model, too. And some of those brands are not department store cheap, but they're affordable. Good design and good construction last longer, too.
BTW, full-price Kenneth Cole is not cheap. Good you wait until they're on sale. And we should get together and talk about jeans. I have probably one too many...

    2. Oh, don't I know K Cole is pricey. I bought a simple black sports jacket for a function...on the sale rack, but it was still way over $100.
I have 4 pair of 501s....and 2 501 shorts. When one wears out --- and I mean OUT --- I'll buy new ones. LOL. XOXO

And there's cool inspo there. Especially some colors I'd never think of combining.

  7. He's cute and can wear anything. Good for him. He talks too fast.

Let's talk about all those 'accessories'. A hallmark of trying to hard, as are the jackets with shorts. To each their own... not for me. This guy gets dressed and I want to run up an remove three items every time. Kizzes.

    1. Oh, he could wear a burlap sack and look good.
I like accessories. I always wear a watch and I wear prescription glasses, so I'm always wearing something else. I like rings, too. And bracelets.
I like shorts and a light jacket for the night, especially in September.

      XOXO
