Allhallows
Gloomy and bare the organ-loft,
Bent-backed and blind the organist.
From rafters looming shadowy,
From the pipes’ tuneful company,
Drifted together drowsily,
Innumerable, formless, dim,
The ghosts of long-dead melodies,
Of anthems, stately, thunderous,
Of Kyries shrill and tremulous:
In melancholy drowsy-sweet
They huddled there in harmony.
Like bats at noontide rafter-hung.

I wish you a good long weekend. I don't know in the USA, but here in Italy and in the great part of Europe, November 1st is the feast of all saints and it is a public holiday. November 2 is the Memorial of the Dead, but it is a working day.
ReplyDeleteIt is the same here; All Saints Day and Memorial of the Dead.... But you know the crazy folk in the U.S., we have to extend things for commerce purposes. Thus we have Hallow'een - or All Hallow's Eve and the Trick or Treat.
