Numbers....
The whole 'falling in the polls' thing has been bugging me. You know that I'm not an expert in politics (that would be other bloggers, natch -Hi, Michael!-) and that's why I went to one of my trusted sources: Beau. Beau here kind of dissects what may be going on behind the dreaded 'numbers' and what the Dems could do. Not like he's got a direct line to Nancy, but I find his analysis quite compelling.
Apparently, Uncle Joe is 'falling' with Blacks, Hispanics and women (??) so only white dudes are apparently now the Democratic party. Beau says that Uncle Joe's agenda has stalled, but that's not Uncle Joe's fault. That's congress! But because the American public is absolutely clueless as to how their government works, it all falls on Biden, because he's the head of the party (notice that did NOT happen when Cheeto was the head of the Repugs, but I digress..) and the Buck stops with him.
Another point is that apparently these groups are not brought 'into the conversation' as much as they could have been included. Nobody talks about this. There are not mouthpieces out there in social media and media overall cheering at everything they do (they don't have Fox News, go figure). The Dems can cure cancer and it will not be known.
I think the most important part of this analysis is that the next election is going to be about policy. Progressives (who apparently, are many) are constantly moving forward. They are not going to vote against Cheeto because Twitler is out of the game. The Dems are going to go beyond the usual channels (CNN, etc) to get cheerleaders that are as progressive as the politicians the majority of the Dems want: progressives. Those are the people who could help the party if they choose to. But they're not the status quo and the status quo is what is going to get votes.
According to Beau, progressives are not moving back to the center. The Dems need to move towards where the Progressives are so the three demographics they have left wanting come back to support Uncle Joe. Biden represents the 'center'. He's not extremely Progressive and that's what people miss. People also miss that anything 'good' brought about by the policies implemented by this administration don't get touted by the media because it's seen as 'extreme'. The Dems have to start making their case and stop dillydalling with the Repugs. Dems should stop treating the Repugs as contenders in a fair fight. The Repugs are despicable, evil, mean power hunger deplorables.
The fear is that Repugs are going to come up with somebody who is as bad as Fat Hitler (or worse) but more polished and slicker and THEN the Dems will be in big trouble. Because it's not a matter of maintaining the status quo for the Dems now. It's moving towards where the Progressives (and most of the garden variety of Dems) are: off of center. Progress is needed and it needs to be touted as the next goal for the Dems. Because the Repugs are going to pounce with lies and misinformation and if the Dems are not ready, they will have only themselves to blame.
And now I'm pissed off.
XOXO
I think I agree with a lot of this. I try to do my homework on who I vote for. I have three or four huge topics that are hot buttons for me, and if each administration can get these things done and through, I will keep voting for new candidates each time. But it seems that if a administration doesn't have all three branches, forget getting anything done. And both parties are guilty of running on campaign points and then drop them like hot potatoes. It is sad that we are this point where we had the good R and D who were in the middle and worked together, they got the shit done. But the far right and left have killed that over the years. The olives branches are dead. And yes, we best start hitting back and hard and dirty...or we will not hold on to the two chambers we have now. It's sad that getting things done is like watching paint dry, which some of those things shouldn't even be IN POLITICS , like abortion...and things like health care, affordable prescriptions, stricter laws for the environment and min wage STILL go the the wayside.
ReplyDeleteAnd I still love Kamala, but why do we not hear more about her? I feel we never hear about her. Or the news is just cutting those bits.
And this was brilliant and true- "Progress is needed and it needs to be touted as the next goal for the Dems. Because the Repugs are going to pounce with lies and misinformation and if the Dems are not ready, they will have only themselves to blame."
We don't hear from Harris because she doesn't present very well. She talks down to people. When it's her "turn" I fear she won't make it. But, of course, that test is moot if the Dems don't get on the same page.
DeleteI'm constantly wondering what IS it that people see when they assess a politician's performance. After Fat Hitler almost destroyed this country while making himself richer people are still going to vote for him. Mind=Blown.
DeleteI think Kamala is doing what Vice Presidents do: they let the president take center stage. If she were out more, it would be 'she's the Prez cause Biden is senile' 24/7
XOXO
I want to know where Kamala is? Why isn't she out front telling the American people exactly what's in these bills the Blues want passed? I need the Blues to step up, get tough, get things done, or else they will lose in 2022, because Dems won't show up to vote.
ReplyDeleteProgress fixes things; stalling does nothing.
I think she's doing her job: traveling and getting stuff done that vice presidents do. Maybe waiting for a moment to come back into the public eye. You know the the MAGAts were saying SHE was the Prez cause Uncle Joe was senile, right?
DeleteI do think the Dems need tough it up. Really.
If I were a Dem, I'd mean girl the hell out of those cunts in government. Then they would not elect me again cause i'm too 'rough' tough.
It's the nature of the beast: Repugs elect the worst. Dems try to elect the best.
XOXO
Even the darling of the progressives when she was elected (AOC), is now getting the stink-eye from progressives. They feel she has abandoned what she campaigned on and is moving to the middle.
ReplyDeleteIt is true that the majority of Dems support a progressive agenda, but, as Beau said, you have that large block of independents who vote more conservatively. That is a large sticking point. We have to find a way to bring them along by showing them what is progressive is good for them, too.
XOXO 👨🏼❤️💋👨🏽
It's complicated.
DeleteI don't think they are going to please EVERYBODY this presidency and that's gonna backfire with the Dems. The Dems need to promote their policies because all the Repugs have is resentment, racism, xenophobia and grievances.
XOXO
See, here's the problem: The Left has three ideologies: Moderate, Left, and Far Left (Progressives) and the three can't seem to agree on anything. Sinema and Manchin are not Democrats - they're Moderate Republicans, and they will be the death of small "d" democracy. See, I think all those "talks" Manchin is having with the repugs are really planning sessions. He's with them. As Rachel Maddow says, "Don't listen to what they say - watch what they do."
ReplyDeleteThe rethuglicans are winning the fights in the states, the Cheeto judges are helping them win in the courts on gerrymandering the new districts and establishing new suppressive voting laws. The Dems could stop them...but they need Manchin and Sinema to do it --- and they aren't going to.
I have theories...but I'm already coming across as Debbie Downer here, knocking dicks in the dirt. XOXO
P.S. I know I was supposed to be gone on vacay. We're leaving for parts unknown in a couple of hours. XOXO
The right is racism, xenophobia and white resentment. There's no agenda.
DeleteAnd I don't think you're Debbie Downing us. It's true.
Have fun in the vacay!!!
XOXO
I can see how that would send the blood pressure spiking. The Dems need a rock star to get people excited and I don't know who that is going to be. Biden isn't doing it and I don't know where Kamala has been. We are going to have a nasty governor's race here in Idaho and I am not ready for it because some of the folks running are using Cheeto's playbook.
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy!
DeleteAnd hopefully you will be able to vote for somebody decent. It's Idaho, though, so I don't hold my hopes high...
The Cheeto cultists are trying to infiltrate local governments like locusts.
XOXO
I read that your Cheeto is planning to reappear in 2024. Is this true? will the repugs still support it?
ReplyDeleteIf he runs again Xersex and wins....make room for baby in Italy....I m staying with you!
DeleteGladly, but what I am aking is if it will have the support of the Repugs. I don't think he will have it! Some Repugs couldn't stand it even during 2016 - 2020 ...
DeleteHopefully, they'll jail his orange ass before 2024.
DeleteI cannot believe he's gonna get scott free after all the fuckery and corruption he unleashed.
XOXO
in prison? I don't believe it! I just hope that by 2024 it will be rendered harmless!
DeleteActually, his across the board approval rating is around 50%. At this early into his presidency, it's a little too early to be worrying.
ReplyDeleteI know!
DeleteBut what the media promotes is this bullshit 'low numbers'.
Also, he's fixing all the fuckery Cheeto left behind. And the American public has the attention span of a gnat on Mountain Dew, so...
XOXO
I think the polls are crap. Utter shite. Ever since the Hillary debacle, I pay them no attention. Of course his poll numbers are down... look around you. Immigration. Covid. The economy restarting. Cleaning up all the mess the orange ogre left. Jan. 6th. On and on... though I do agree with Bob... Where the hell IS Kamala? Sort of disappointed there. Thing is... give this time to sort itself out. There are so many balls in the air right now, the repugs all think their at a gay orgy. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteI am also weary of them, but this is America, where everything is Prom Queen and King, no? 'Likable' and 'Relatable' are the mark of the successful. Aren't they saying Kamala is 'aloof'? They elected Cheeto because people knew him from fucking TV.
ReplyDeletePeople do not understand the monumental fuckup Agolf Hitled caused.
Also, having a percentage of the country and literally half of the government working to undermine a man's job is heavy.
XOXO
