I’ll show you mine, again.

 

Ok, so here's the thing: last time when I posted about my basement garden apartment, you guys noticed that there was an accent wall and I decided to make sure that it stood out. So I moved all the furniture around and now that wall is the focal point in my sitting room. I think that back when I posted about my place the color palette was more on a neutral tone, so I decided that if I was gonna move things around, I needed to spice things up too, given that winter is coming and I'm going to be indoors most of the time. Winter gets to me, somehow. And when all that snow starts falling, I need some motivation indoors.

So in comes IKEA to the rescue. It is literally the same room (the wall does look cute, guys!) but I introduced some colors (I went back to IKEA after more than a year and raided the As Is section) and the room actually looks different. At least to me. I usually go for neutral colors (gray, off-white) so introducing a print and introducing some more vibrant colors spiced up my little sitting room. I'm working with a very weird, very undefined space and I had not used this much color before, but I kind of like the final effect. 

The little reading chair (I fucking love this chair, it's one of the most comfortable things IKEA has) also went through some retrofitting. It was a shade of gray, like the sofa, and now it's black, and I like it. I also did the color thing and got it its own lumbar cushion because why the hell not. All the other stuff was in other parts of the house (the black round table with the zillion candles was next to the sofa before and the rolling shelves were near the pantry). Now I have a new reading corner and I like it. I pamper myself like that.

The rest of the space literally stayed the same. I just moved around some books and went for the color-block idea with the cushions. I can't believe how much just a little bit of color helps. Oh, and plants. I have one or four new plants and they're surviving. I don't know how they'll do during the winter but we'll see. I also moved my little plant shelves around but I forgot to take a pic and now it's too late. Maybe some other time. Time to do something with the bathroom!
