It's not just the poses, that seem to have captured the men in the midst of very sensuous, very hot, very uninhibited sex. It's just the way he captures the bodies frozen in a moment so intimate one feels almost intruding. Yeah, I'm weird. So what? I would love to have one (or two, or three) of his paintings. I'd clean a whole wall for one of those big format canvas. I love the bold brushstrokes and the saturated colors. It's so.... passionate? And evocative.
And the thing is that he's also an accomplished illustrator and educator. And handsome. Because one's allowed to lust after one's favorite artists. So if you have time, go check his output. I think you'll like it. And who knows, you may end up with a Torrent before I do...
XOXO
I don't know art but I know what I like ... and these are cool. I love his use of color, and the sort of primitive nature of the painting and subjects. Some are more graphic than I might choose to put on my wall, but others are very interesting.
ReplyDeleteAren't they cool?
DeleteAnd you could ask him to do a commission. Maybe a portrait of you two? Or immortalize Tuxedo? Can you IMAGINE?
XOXO
That's the thing about art...it's truly in the eye of the beholder. That's something they never teach in Art Appreciation (Art101) because of course they don't. They're trying to tell you why you should think Van Gogh, etc, were masters at their craft. But beautiful art is art you find beautiful and that's all that should matter.
ReplyDeleteTorrent's work is all you describe, though: Beautiful, bold colors and brings the images to life in your mind. XOXO
Absolutely.
DeleteIt's all about the person who is looking at the art, that's true. And the colors are fantastic. It was the first thing I noticed. The reaction was immediate.
XOXO
I hope you get to own one of his paintings someday!
ReplyDeleteHaha
DeleteOh, I'd probably faint. And would start redecorating right away.
XOXO
I like this one even more so over last week's artist...I like the technique and color here more. I'd gladly hang his art in my home. They remind me a tad of my friend's pastels he did me that I sat for. This summer he now wants to do a series on couples, so the Lad and I may be sitting or whatever we do for him. He's not bad for starting out. I will have to share this artist with him. I think he'd like him and his work.
ReplyDeleteOh yes.
DeleteIt's more complex, the process and technique much more intricate. And I already have an idea of where I'd put it. LOL.
And you are right, it's kind of the same idea behind those pastels! The human figure is front and center. And it would be fantastic to have one of you and the lad!! That's awesome.
XOXO
His color palate is interesting. However, by only posting what might be termed erotic art, you paint him as being rather one dimensional. Russell Tovey has an interesting take on art on his Instagram which details a number of artists, male and female, and their work, which is sometimes erotic and sometimes not.
ReplyDeleteI think his use of color is great! Very vibrant and accurate!
DeleteAnd if you scroll down (or click the link) you'll see he does illustrations and portraits, too. But I don't think erotic art would be one dimensional. Why would that be so?
And Tovey? I have not paid attention to him ever since his internalized homophobia made him say he was thankful for his father not making him a sissy. Is he still around?
XOXO
This is really cool. The choice of colors is almost like a heat map. You can feel the passion.
ReplyDeleteXOXO 👨🏼❤️💋👨🏽
OMG Bae.
DeleteI never saw it like that but it's absolutely true. It does look like those heat maps. Burning with desire? Yes, please.
XOXO
There is an electricity in the people of Barcelona that I have never experienced before. It shows in this art. The Eixample District is the place to be to feel alive , vibrant, gay, Spanish style.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who lives there and he says it's fantastic.
DeleteOne more city to put in the bucket list, no? I just keep taking notes!
XOXO
Oh, I like this new series... spotlighting artists you discover. I like his work and all the color. Very energetic. Thanks for sharing. Have a lovely weekend. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteHaha
DeleteYes, You've got it!
There's so many talented people on that wretched App that I decided to take one and post it here every week. I thought this one was fantastic.
XOXO
