Jiraiyajpn
I think by now you may know that I really enjoy men. And that I'm an equal opportunity objectifier. I like them long and lean and mean and ready and like them big and burly and hunky. I also like men with little to no clothes as much as I enjoy them dressed (Kidding! I like to look at naked men much, much more). And I also enjoy Bara. So @Jiraiyajpn was kind of a no-brainer for me to check out on IG because just look at his men.
I believe that many people are misled by a combo of Orientalism, deception and the myth that dooms Asian men as being somehow submissive and less than strong. That, I think, is due to lack of representation. Just look around you outside Asia and at the movies and tv series you can find and you'll see that there's usually what? One or two movies or tv series every once in a blue moon that have a male Asian lead, if we're lucky? Not enough.
Enters Bara.
Bara (薔薇, lit. 'rose') is a colloquialism for a genre of Japanese art and media known within Japan as gay manga (ゲイ漫画) or gei komi (ゲイコミ, "gay comics"). The genre focuses on male same-sex love, as created primarily by gay men for a gay male audience. Bara can vary in visual style and plot, but typically features masculine men with varying degrees of muscle, body fat, and body hair, akin to bear or bodybuilding culture. While bara is typically pornographic, the genre has also depicted romantic and autobiographical subject material, as it acknowledges the varied reactions to homosexuality in modern Japan.
I really like Bara. I think that the overblown masculinity I find in it is a reflection we also see in more Eurocentric forms of art such as what we find in Tom of Finland or Quantiance or Harry Bush and that's nothing new in homoerotic art. I think that gay men have always tend to look at the overblown, the obviously sexual, the lewd, the clearly intended for pleasure. And Bara is just that.

Interesting.
ReplyDeleteWell, we all know how some gay men love hypermasculinity, so yeah.

Now that's some beefacke.
ReplyDeleteBeefcake galore.
DeleteI love the lusciousness of it all.

the technique is very clever and well done and I, usually a lover of Caucasian races, certainly do not despise Asians, especially Japanese or Indians. What I don't like here, though, is the big, bear-like look. If these Japanese men were just tonic types, I would have really appreciated them.
ReplyDeleteThat is something that called my attention.
DeleteThe images kind of jump at you. And I actually like the bear-like look. I like husky men.
XOXO
it's only a matter of tastes, in men and in arts!
DeleteI have seen his work before and it's so vivid. I met these two bears in the park once while walking Buster and they, their dog. Over time we got to know each other. Once at their place for dinner, they had some prints of his work and they showed it to me. I believe he was one of their favorites.
ReplyDeleteOhhh that's cool!
DeleteAnd yes, vivid. That's another adjective that I think describes his work very well. And I can totally see bears loving his work. Yes.
XOXO
Interesting, isn't it? We come in all shapes and sizes (just like cocks) and in all shades. What's not to like? As the saying goes, "There's someone for everyone." I add the caveat - if you want, and if you look. A couple of those instantly brought Sumo to mind. We had a member of the J/O group who was quite the large dude and he turned out to be one of the sexiest mfs there. Another was Native Am. However, when it comes right down to it, our cocks tell us what we like, no? XOXO
ReplyDeleteWe do!
DeleteVariety is indeed the spice of life. And I was thinking that if Sumo wrestlers would have sex with Tom of Finland, they would have this kind of Bara. And our cocks tell us immediately what it IS that we like.
Undeniably.

The detail in this art is amazing. Such talent and imagination. I can't draw a stick figure, much less something so intriguing, fascinating and beautiful. I'm so glad artists share their work. I could stare at some of these for hours.
ReplyDeleteOh, same.
DeleteI can't draw my way out of a brown bag. I thought the shading is fantastic. The muscles seem to ripple under the skin. And I'm grateful artists let us appreciate these things. So beautiful.
XOXO
I don't know if I want to cuddle them, pet them, jump on them, or devour them. They look so yummy. And fun. I love this type of art. It's very warm. The smiles help, don't they. And they look so cute in underwear. I dunno. Yes, I am objectifying... what? Beauty? Don't we all. Nice textures in these illustrations. What's not to love? Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteHahaha
DeleteYes, they do provoke all those emotions. And this type of art is at the same time sensual and sexual. And they show the power a smile has in a man. And I was BORN to objectify men.
XOXO
The amount of detail is fantastic. And there is quite a variety of body types, too. But they all have telltale abs. Just because your large doesn’t mean your not fit.
ReplyDeleteThanks for another great find.
XOXO 👨🏼❤️💋👨🏽
Isn't that true?
DeleteThe amount of detail is amazing. I can imagine the artist working for hours and hours in just one of these. Oh, and large men can be fit as hell. Yum.
XOXO
I wish I had a knack at doing art, but like yourself can't seem to get enough of looking at naked men and cock.
