Surprise! Merriam-Webster actually has a description of what a Thirst Trap is, but I prefer this one that I found in my trusty Urban Dictionary:

Thirst Trap

A sexy photograph or flirty message posted on social media for the intent of causing others to publicly profess their attraction. This is done not to actually respond or satisfy any of this attraction, but to feed the posters ego or need for attention, at the expense of the time, reputation and sexual frustration of those who view the image or reply.

I love it when something that is completely made up by the internet -and a product of the times- actually becomes something so widespread and representative of a reality that even reputable sources like the Merriam-Webster have to acknowledge it. 

So, did you know that Str8UpGayPorn gave an award to the best Thirst Trap of the year? No? Well, thank goodness I'm here to fill you in, right? The award is bestowed yearly on the gay Porn Star who has posted online the best Thirst Traps for the world to ogle.  This award is granted by popular vote in the website. The 'material' usually comes from the nominees' Twitter feed, which allows for more salacious and shameless Thirst Traps than let's say, Instagram. And I'm so here for that. I love me ogling some naked men who willingly show us the goodies.
