Greg and Mitch (lowkey OTP)

I love makeovers. I love DIY. I love gay men. And I love house tours. So this video was really a treat. It's a makeover for the ASAP Science guys done by TheSorryGirls, who specialize on DIY (they're cute and actually make sense). I have always wondered what goes behind the scenes during these 'makeovers' because they make it seem like it's nothing and it takes me HOURS to do anything in my house because I have to clean everything and wash everything and it's a fucking process.

Greg and Mitch are super smart and super adorable and they have one thing I think I'd love to have: a loft. They use it as a live/workspace and at this time (pandemic, duh) that's quite the smart solution. They also do content for youtube and social media and they use the space both for living and working.

What I love most about this video is not only the transformation but also that it's girls who are doing the flip. I love me a handy woman, mainly because I wish I had that dexterity and creativity. I do know how to do some things around the house, but this is a a whole different level. I'm in awe. The combination of talents (the painter, the cabinet/island maker) the DIY and the use of trifted stuff got me all in. BTW, check out the process of mounting that rug on the wall. Great idea. Logistics be damned.

Also, @FefeDobson (SQUEEE!) used to love her! I had a moment. Very early Aughts moment. And one of the most fun parts was to kind of get  a glimpse at the inside workings of a styling. It takes me forever to decide what is it that I'm gonna do with my space and I usually just change the sofa's slipcover. All in all, it's a super fun video and now I wanna go and do some changes in my space. Greg and Mitch got me jelly! The answer is 'yes', SorryGirls. I'd live there.

XOXO

  1. It all seems a bit too precious to me; not the space, but the foursome. And, here's where I go real shallow, I am so OVER hats and that Khloe Kardastrophe looking one needs to lose that thing at once.
Sorry about that, i guess I am having Mid Week Rants! I like the green wall ....

I did love the space and what they did with it. And they're cute! LMAOOO

  2. They have done a great job, but to do these jobs alone, it is not enough to be smart. You need to have excellent manual skills, which I lack, for example.

    1. I know!
You do need excellent manual skills. They did ask a professional to do the accent wall, though. I think it all came out nicely.

  3. DOES EVERYONE need a social media presence? LOL. Well... how fun was this? It was a bit grating, to be honest. I dislike forced gaiety and these four are just bubbling over with enthusiasm - about themselves. It's very insular. Very myopic. Oh, well... these are the times? Thanks for sharing. Makeover shows... ugh. I just can't. And gay makeover shows? I'd rather wear a pair of acid washed jeans to a formal wedding. Kizzes.

    1. LMAO!!!! I'm coming to sit in your corner. I thought the same thing with all four of them. Wayyyyy to extra. I swear you and I are becoming Ouiser and Clairee.

    2. The four of them were way over the top, weren't they? And didn't always come off as sincere. Give me the two guys who do the Detroit budget houses....

    3. LMAOOOO
      I blame millenials!
And yes, they are all influencers/YouTubers/ so there's that. I find them engaging, though. And I love gay makeover shows! And gay couples' house tours!

  4. And they are smart girls to use a deep green. Green is one of the worst colors to do a room in unless it's a deep hunter or moss green, otherwise from light, it distorts the colors of the human skin and other items in the color, especially art. I loved the space. A makeover is insane. That kitchen I did during the pandemic took 7 months from on paper to placing the last bowl. Insane.

    1. That green was fab!
It's one of the 'colors of the year' for what I've seen. And it looks fantastic in that space. And I totally believe that the kitchen you did took all that time. The manfriend started redoing his last year and they're just finishing. With the pandemic and all the contractors it has taken a life on its own.

  5. I love green. I have a long, green hallway. I thought you knew, edits make everything look simple and fast. Most people don't know that it takes paint 2 days to fully dry and and week to cure. You run the risk of leaving marks if you hang anything on freshly painted walls before then,

Especially deeper shades. And painting is an absolute pain. I painted when I moved here and I really just left parts with the original paint because it was SO MUCH WORK!

  6. Ok I love Greg and Mitch, because SCIENCE! I’ve followed them on YouTube forever. I like the way they break things down and make it so even I could understand it.

I love the results, the girls did a great job with the space and all of the little touches (mounting a bird on the arm of a lamp? cool!). All of the custom touches really work well.

Their videos are super smart and entertaining. And the girls did indeed do a great job here. I know them from small DIYs but this was epic.

  7. I'm with Dave. I LOVE dark green and have had dark green bedrooms (2). But this video reminds me of "Trading Places" on HGTV back in the day.

I have wanted to do my powder room in dark green for the longest time but I'm too afraid...

  8. I'd live there. Yes, I would. it doesn't feel small. I'd go a lighter color on that wall, though. The painted countertop/table - nope. It won't last.
I am not a DIY guy and it takes us forever to decide on what to do or what to buy when it comes to decorating or painting. But there's no rush, is there? LOL. XOXO

    1. Oh, the place is fab.
I'd love to have a loft. When we were thinking about moving to Chicago, the wyphe and I had the eye on a loft in Old Town. It was just a dream, though.
I cannot do a lot of DIY. I feel clumsy with powertools. But I love decorating LOL
