Cassandra
The conservative movement has been working toward this victory for decades, and it has been made possible not simply by its determination and a few fortunate accidents, but by the haplessness of its opponents. Many in the center of the Democratic Party have been paralyzed by the belief that they might “do popular stuff” and coast to victory without having to get their hands dirty fighting the opposition, while its left-wing critics too often forget that democracy is an ongoing process, not a battle that ceases after casting the right vote once or twice. In both cases, the right has been fortunate in having opponents who argue themselves into complacency.
The Religulous wrong has been at it for YEARS. They won't stop now that they have their foot at the door. And I know the rich, white gays will be the last to react. I was just telling that to Michael, because they think they're untouchable. Just wait...
XOXO
there is a worrying involution for rights
ReplyDeleteAnd it's not going to stop here.
DeleteIt's going to erode everything that has to do with personal freedoms.
XOXO
We fought them once, we can fight them again. Get your rainbow warpaint on, everyone!
ReplyDeleteNo joke.
DeleteSeriously, people are going to put on their big girl/boy panties and face the music. For real.
XOXO
I'm with Debra. CAST A GODDAMNED VOTE and get every Republican who is anti-equality FOR ALL out of office.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely.
DeleteThe apathy I've seen in the last three elections is APPALLING. People need to get off their asses. Their future is at stake.
Vote. The Repugs. Out.
XOXO
HuntleyBiGuy:
ReplyDeleteThe die has been cast, they have their formula. As disgusting as it is, they MUST be crushed this election cycle. We need that strong majority in both houses and in state houses.
If you’re not following her on Twitter, I highly recommend PoliticsGirl (@IAmPoliticsGirl). She’s fired up.
XOXO 👨🏼❤️💋👨🏽
Oh, they do.
DeleteThey have been waiting for this for a LONG time. Dems have got to keep that majority or we are fucked.
Politics Girl is awesome.
XOXO
Their little test balloon leak, however, is not going as well as they wanted. Barrett's comment about a 'domestic supply chain of infants' sank like a rock. Two thirds of America is against overturning Roe v Wade. To be successful, they need to keep Conservatives in office. That is going to be more and more difficult, especially when the January 6 committee begins their prime-time hearings. The MAGAs will stick together because they believe they have God on their side. The rest of America is going to say, "what the fuck is wrong with these people."
ReplyDeleteYes.
DeleteTwo thirds of America is against overturning RvW and a big majority support gay marriage but they do not vote. It's all lip service. At this point we need action, not pleasantries.
XOXO
I think that Brynn has nailed it exactly how it will go down. Ever since it passed in the Obama admin, they have had it on their agendas. So of my gay couple friends don't seem worried, and I'm confused by their "untouchable attitude" . And while I'm not married, and we get all our rights striped from us , which you know will come also, as far as being fired because we're gay , no renting to gays etc....we again won't be citizens. To which I will write in a letter asking why- " So if I'm not regarded as a citizen, I will not be held accountable to pat taxes then right?" But so we know, our money will still be good enough to take. Fuck em all.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid she's right, too.
DeleteAnd your friends are a big part of the problem: they don't feel affected in any way shape or form. As long as it doesn't touch them, it's not their problem. Until it's too late. Their selfishness is appalling.
Even if we're not married, it's a matter of freedom. I'm gonna be shouting from my little soapbox until the election because the Repugs need to be squashed.
XOXO
Big says:
ReplyDeleteIt's all a load of bullshit. Religious bullshit. And it gets deeper by the minute. That's the single constitutional amendment they love to ignore most. The only way to fight this is to vote. Vote in your primary. Vote in the general. Vote BLUE from dog catcher to state reps to federal Senate and House reps. Pay special attention to your Secretary of State and Attorney General. Because they will be the clog in the ability to overturn election results. XOXO
Oh, it's their idea of a theocracy.
DeleteThey've been dreaming about it for decades. I have always told people here that voting is fundamental. Why do you think the Repugs are so hellbent on curtailing voting and making it difficult for minorities to do so? Because minorities tend to vote Dem.
And you are right, Secretary of State and Attorney General are fundamental. No piece is too small.
XOXO
This unravelling is unfortunate, but sadly, because the laws themselves were so vague and badly written, I have no doubt we will see more and more of our civil rights trampled and destroyed. Welcome to the real world, kids. It was fun... living in that bubble, huh? Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteOh, they are not stopping with reproductive rights.
DeleteThey will keep going until we're back to 1952, when it was a white, cis, xtainist men's world.
XOXO
Big says:
DeleteThey're gonna go back farther than 1952. They'll take things back to before women got the vote. Because, after all, the Constitution doesn't mention women at all. XOXO
Vote Val Demmings in Florida. Marco Rubio has to GO!
ReplyDeleteOh, absolutely!
DeleteRubio has been leeching off that state for YEARS! And what about Ron Death Santis?
XOXO
Not quite. If you were poor or black, the Clintons and other centrist Dems were essentially abusers: "Where are you gonna go? To them? They hate you." So they would spend their time trying to win country club Republicans and the like.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, their hubris grew. Obama was popular, but Hillary Clinton was remembered as just another Iraq invasion cheerleader and little else. (And you absolutely cannot judge her by her votes, that's sexist.) These Clinton supporters praising people like Margaret Thatcher did not help anyone's confidence.
But there was no alternative, because they were "superdelicate".
*sigh* The problems go back to the New Left. The New Left wrongly believes that education will fix racism, and the poor are uneducated, therefore the poor must be racist. Meanwhile, Arthur Jensen had tenure at Berkeley. Though TBH most New Left types were legacy admissions who simply resented Montgomery GI Bill students and couldn't believe Daddy was the cause of everything wrong with the world
