Horny?

Sex is in the brain. Oh yeah. We all know that. The thing is, everybody keeps talking about porn and about the effect porn has (had) on people's behavior. This video, even though it does confirm that the process of getting horny is not as simple as getting a boner, it does bring up the question of porn changing the brain  (and therefore behavior) and that of men men who are hornier having higher levels of testosterone (and benign more… manly). The answer? Probably not. So there's that.

The hormones that do come into play are norepinephrine and the ever present dopamine (heh, there's some people that really think dopamine has nothing to do with love and desire, LOL). These hormones are also guilty of me being totally into some manhandling when I'm horny and you being a sexy beast. And probably what lead to what some people find unacceptable in porn. Yeah. All those uninhibited behaviors that people find so offensive in porn (choking, hair pulling, gagging and the such) may be supported by... science.

I think that the most interesting part is the part related to serotonin: mood stabilization and to the question related to us watching more porn and being bombarded by thirst traps leading to some changes in our brain. I didn't find the conclusions to be that categorical but then there's hypersexuality disorder. And you know that even though some of these studies have samples that are definitely small (less than forty participants?) those are the studies that people that are against porn or sex in general are always gonna cite.

The thing is that hypersexuality disorder is under reported and under diagnosed. So there's that. Also, Kinsey's threshold diagnosis would make most everybody I know be diagnosed with hypersexuality disorder. Did you know you may be  a sex fiend? Also, there's dopamine again. Who said dopamine is not important? Oh, yes.

Oh yes. Horniness can be explained in many ways. It may also explain why I get so many hits in the Pages section but never a comment. Never. Oh, well, Steve once commented. But Steve was fun. I hope that the people who go there are enjoying themselves, though. Because that's exactly why I put that there. Heh. For your enjoyment.

So, while they come up with larger studies and with more research, people need to stop blaming porn and thirst traps for their horny behaviour. It's not that simple, at the end. What is true is that humans are sexual beings. The thing is that some are a little (or a lot) more sexual than others. I think it's kind of simple. Well, that and that some humans are terribly judgemental/jealous/incapable of self-reflection. And that, Constant Reader, may be the bigger problem.

  2. I don't really think about porn that much; too many other things are juicing around my brain, like the dogs, and politics, and writing, and what I'm going to make for dinner this evening.

    1. Oh, but this has nothing to do with porn.
You see, your brain hijacks you the moment you go into your Insta to post pics of the doggie or of the cover of your book. Rogue Loegs and Dillon and Kevin and Hugo and Lucas and Luke and Adrian and Peter and Evan and Max and Roland et. al. jump at you and then your dick reacts. You don't have to THINK about porn to get horny, Dave.
One look at Brian Sims and my mind go to places, too.

  3. Porn is the easy target for taking the blame of America's ills. Everything from drugs and drink to guns and murder is blamed on porn.

    1. Oh, people will blame everything and anything on porn.
      It's an easy target.
      But we know better.

    HuntleyBiGuy:
So it’s all in my head? The big head, get your mind out of the gutter.

Of course all of this comes down to exposure, and we are constantly bombarded with arousing images, from social apps, to television and movies, to books (thank you Amazon for the freebies). Some of this we search out, others are thrust upon us (snicker, I said thrust). But thanks to ASAP Science for the explanation.

      You know it is.
But looking at hot men does not transform me in a cock hungry monster, bae. Or thinking about them. Or anything. The big head always trumps the little head. It's a matter of measure.

    Big says,
Do most people (men) really care what causes them to be horndogs? Probably not. Between the two heads, it's all very complicated. The big head sends chemical signals and the little head is more than happy to oblige. Who are we to argue?
Pages section? What Pages section? What have I been missing?

    1. Nope.
That's the quick answer. Men do not really care about the cause. They just see the effect. And it is quite the dance. But sex is in the brain. Without the brain, the little head has very little say.
And you've never been to my Pages section? Hahaha
      Oh, Big.

  8. I was not aware of your pages section. How fun. Let me go look. And yes, my hypersexuality is all based on triggers... build up... I have not doubt that I am easily misled. I do it for the payout... and once I get it... I'm good for awhile... like three days? And then... the build up. :) Kizzes.

And our sexual response is always based on triggers. We are like kitties playing with a laser pointer.
Oh, the buildup. It's a thing.
