Old Pill, New Trick

Viagra gives me headaches. Same as Poppers. Having a headache during sexytimes is NOT fun. But what can I say? I'm a sensitive soul.

I tried Viagra once and it was a very weird experience. Here's the deal: I was kind of expecting to get a boner worthy of chopping wood (heh) because that's what all the commercials kind of insinuated (and what Samantha in Sex and the City said), but what I got was a terrible, bad, no good headache. It was the kind of headache that feels like it pulsates at a very slow rhythm  and gets behind your eyes and it does NOT leave. I was not happy. And funny thing is, (well, not funny) that I felt exactly the same with Poppers. I tried Amyl Nitrite many years ago (oh, I HAD to try it, seeing that so many porn stars reach for the poppers when faced with... well, challenges) and the experience was similar to the one with Viagra. I did not enjoy it, same kind of headache and you just add the feeling of your nostrils were kind of on fire. Not a fan. Not even for a fantastic, sexy challenge.

Also, I am not opposed to a man using Viagra. I had once a conversation with one of my girlfriends and she said she would be offended if she knew her man used Viagra. What? I would not be offended because a man wants to nail me into next week with a nice erection? I think few women really know how fragile our erections can be. Most men like to project that image of a horndog, ready to go at the least provocation, but that is not always the case. Men can be so into someone that they get hard as a rock,  and then at the moment of truth, they lose their erection. Performance anxiety is also a prime suspect. As are stress and even diet! A boner is a blessing (as I tell Big all the time) and sometimes that blessing just don't come easy.

But it seems that the Blue Angel is good for more than rock hard boners: it may be helpful to help prevent Alzheimer's. A blessing indeed. Alzheimer's is one of the most terrifying things I can think of. Losing all that is you and only remaining a shell of your former self? Terrifying. But there may be hope. The sample is big (seven million people, heh) and 69% of the participants were less likely to develop Alzheimer's. It's a promising lead and I'll take it. Now, if only I did not get those terrible headaches...

And you, Constant Reader? Have you tried the Blue Angel? Would you? Go ahead, tell us... after all, you now can say you're doing it for science (and whomever is enjoying that touch of Sildenafil).

XOXO

  1. It's all just cardiovascular hydraulics, isn't it? I don't know why any sexual partner should take it personally if the hydraulics are aging and don't work as well.

      Big says,
At it's most basic, it is a matter of having functioning hydraulics. And, as Six says, it's all so much more complex than that. The stiffest stiffy can droop like cooked pasta in a flash for all kinds of reasons. What may cooperate one day may not the next. Truly though: Guys wish the "constant, ready horndog" was true. LOL.

    2. Correct.
And I don't understand why the whole brouhaha about it. It's part of nature and nature has its ways. We are not the same man at sixty that we were at sixteen.

    Big says,
The blue Boner Pill may prevent Alzheimer's??? That drug is becoming quite the marvel, isn't it? I mean, the boner effect was a surprise because the original research was being done for heart disease, wasn't it?
I had the same issue with Viagra and Cialis with the headaches. And, the pills didn't really help the boners. I guess it couldn't overcome the form of M.D. I have. Never tried poppers.
Bottom line: Boners ARE a blessing, and you're correct: the ladies do not truly understand how complex that wonder is. XOXO

This pill has ended up being quite the useful little helper. Yes, I think it was created to treat heart disease and it ended up helping men get it up and keep it up.
And I'm glad to see I'm not the one who cannot use the boner pills cause I get headaches. Man, for a second there I thought I was weird. And a boner is more than a boner. People forget that.

  3. I've never had Viagra. But poppers are fun with some wine and ganja.

BTW,...I'm posting as myself instead of anonymous! Although, it did take me four attempts to get into your page.

I think the combo of wine and ganja sounds fantastic! Still, poppers give me that nagging headache.

    HuntleyBiGuy:
And I thought aspirin was the wonder drug. I wonder how many guys order the drug “just in case” and never take it and it ends up expiring. That could skew the results. Now you’ll have to excuse me, I need to adjust my retirement portfolio. I sense an increase in viagra scripts.

Aspirin is good, though it does not help with boners. And I know of many men who use Cialis because it's not as immediate as Viagra. But I think what matters is the main ingredient, no? That's what may help with Alzheimer's. And you know your retirement portfolio needs no adjustments, bae.

I can only comment as Anonymous on your blog, Sixpence, but it is Mr. Shife. I got a prescription because my depression meds were causing problems in the arousal department. I only tried it once because eventually my body got used to Lexapro and arousals were no longer a problem. Anyway. no headaches and there was definitely a difference. I felt like a teenager again with an out-of-control boner.

The Blogger plague affected you! BTW, I can also only comment as anonymous in yours. Blogger. Always glitchy. And I know of many men who have used either Viagra or Cialis because of antidepressants. And Lexapro in low doses can be tolerable.
Hahahaha an out of control boner sounds like fun!
Oh, to be sixteen. We didn't know what to do with it back then.

  6. When I first tried viagra, I too got those blinding headaches. But no more. 1/ Drink a ton of water while using it. 2/ Don't eat fatty foods before or during 3/ NO ALCOHOL - if you have been drinking? Don't take it after a night of drinking. When I go out now? Not only do I drink water because I'm driving, but also because I am on viagra. 4/ Eat a non-fat source of protein just before or a little while after. It increases the absorption because the drug bonds with the protein. And no, sperm doesn't count, you whores! Do these things and you will have a good time. One must be stimulated in order for it to work. And I adore it. And... now that I know it helps with the Alzheimer's? I am more committed than ever! Oh, your feet will be a bit swollen the next morning... possibly. Depends how much cruising you were doing. Thanks for writing this. Kizzes.

    1. Oh, and poppers? I have NEVER! (such a liar) I buy three bottles at the start of spring and so glad I do. I put one through the washer and dryer! No fires. You know... a little goes a long way. Those dudes gooning out on poppers? I don't find that sexy, nor would I want to be that out of control. OH. AND DO NOT use poppers and viagra together unless you have the heart of a lion. You can induce a stroke or have a heart attack that way. Kizzes.

    3. Wait, what?
Is there a protocol for Viagra? Who knew?
You see, this is what they never tell you. They just push the blue pill towards you and expect the magic to happen. Pfizer should hire you as consultant. Also, people forget that there needs to be stimuli for it to work. It's not gonna get erect itself. Also glad to read that the headaches are not uncommon. I could not understand why men would go through all that for a boner. And then I thought: 'Men'. And that explained it all.
And I cannot imagine what Poppers and Viagra would do mixed up. It sounds like a nuclear reaction.
I'm still laughing thinking about you looking for that Poppers bottle and realizing it was in the wash. LOL

      Of course not, Dave.
And yes, I think good cardiovascular health should help. But you know boners are delicate sometimes and stress and a bad diet can intervene too. I know many people who have never tried it, and are perfectly fine...

    2. The only time I had erection problems was when I was very tired but took nothing and rested. If one is tired, I believe it is impossible to engage in any sexual activity, including masturbation.

  9. I have never tried Blue Angel or Viagra, as my erections are pretty strong already. But have tried poppers several times over the years at the urging of the Lad, who likes a get nailed several times a night sometimes. I'm amazing at how many tricks of late bring poppers, and want me to use them while they get fucked. While I get a rush that last a few minutes, my dick does feels like it will chop wood, and the climax is stronger, as if my normal shots don't already put a hole in the headboard.

I'm a shooter. But I have never used anything much. I always seem to be "on point"

It did not go well, as you can see. Same with Poppers. I do know people (like you) who swear by them, though. And to tell you the truth, I thought Poppers was something out of 1979 but I it seems I am totally wrong.
Lucky Lad, huh? And we all suspected you're a shooter, not a fighter...
