That's the title of one of my favourite songs. The most lethal, the most essential thing is to hear your own voice. Also, keeping up with the idea of writing as catharsis, this one blog is dedicated all to myself. More solipsism would be hard to find. And I like it like that. Oh, and this is a queer (and self-proclaimed 'ADULT') blog so go ahead, make your day... mine is done.
I stole this idea from Upton because of course I did. So what if I were a movie? Oh, honey. The thing is, I don't really even have to use too much imagination. Here's the deets:
1/ What genre? Drama? Comedy? Horror? A Porno? Other?
Even though I secretly wanted it to be one of those prestige period pieces, I think instead it'd be one of those sci-fi sagas with a message. One, because sci-fi is one of my favorite genres and because it uses actual science to create a world in which everything seems plausible among incredible, otherworldly beauty. Two, because sci-fi movies are sometimes very close to the truth. Also, because I tend to be preachy but I'm almost pretty, natch.
2/ Who's directing?
Spielberg. I like his even-handed approach to movie making. He's creative, has crazy ideas and seems approachable. He's got all the money in the world, so whichever movie he makes, he makes cause he wants. And he can edit. And I could use that because I need to be proofread because I can get mouthy. But you already knew that.
3/ Where does it take place?
It takes place in some far away planet because I think we're going to fuck this one up in such a terrible way that all those dystopian novels and movies are gonna look like kid's play. I am convinced that people are gonna let this planet die a slow, painful death. I don't have children and never will, so I should not care about what happens after my life is over, but yet I do. I don't think it's fair to wreck the planet because we can in the name of consumerism. Really. Humans are the worst.
4/ Who plays you?
Oscar Isaac. Hey, if I'm gonna go full fantasy, why the hell not a hot man? I think he literally smolders and I really enjoy his acting. And if I were him, I'd do me. I'd let him hit it hard. Is the whole 'if you don't love yourself...' thing. Love starts at home, honey.
5/ Who plays your love interest?
Idris Elba. Need I say more? Look: my hands are shaking a little bit just thinking about it...
6/ Who plays your sidekicks/family members/friends?
Neil Patrick Harris and his husband play my sidekicks. High shenanigans ensue. Most possibly a threesome, cause you know they're freaky. Me likey.
7/ Who plays the villain?
The villain is gonna be Harvey Fierstein in high Drag. It's my movie and I'll Drag it if I want to. Also, how fun would that be? Bitch would chew the scenery every time she's on screen and the malevolence will be over the top and campy. Need I say more?
8/ Pick a 'Love Theme' and a 'Main Theme.'
Both would be variations of Baroque music. Kind of a mashup of Vivaldi and Bach. It would go with the overall mood of the movie and the overarching theme of the slightly soap-opera-ish carousel that is my life: a little bit complicated and a little bit operatic. Yeah, that's right. There's layers there. Don't let the smooth taste fool you...
9/ What other songs appear on the soundtrack?
The soundtrack would be a mixtape affair à la Guardians of the Galaxy because I'll carry around some kind of XXI century device in which I play my music while I cavort around with Idris and NPH. Incidental, yet fun. Slice of life affair and all that jazz.
The playlist would include Sam Smith, Orville Peck, Rina Sawayama, Years and Years, Omar Apollo, Hayley Kiyoko, Billie Eillish, Anhoni, Big Freedia, Jackie Shane, Me'shell Ndegeocello and Sophie. Yes.
10/ Does it have a happy ending? Tell us about it.
Well, the organ would be a little too on the nose? LOL And I'm putting TSHDT in my list right away (the 1969 version). MBC sounds good too! Sam Neil? Yum!
The first thing that went through my head was to give a smartass answer like: The Bible, because I want to play God. Then I thought, 'Hell, people might find that a bit tasteless.' And then I thought, 'do I really care? People might like tap dancing apple trees and Ryan Gosling running around looking for Adam.' In the end, that didn't satisfy my fancy, so I'm just going to have to think about this a little longer.
Big says, A film you should watch? Because you're into SciFi, "2001: A Space Odyssey." Else, I would have to recommend two others: "Romeo & Juliet" - Zeffirelli's, with Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey, not the Leo DiCaprio piece of crap; "The Lion In Winter" because, I swear, it's one of the greatest films of all time. And, you'll like the music from both. XOXO
Whoa. I have not watched Space Odyssey in like, twenty years! Gonna put that one in my list. And Zeffirelli's is good (I also like the Leo/Clare one! It is cute!). I have never watched The Lion in Winter though...
Would have to be more than just one. So, Everything, Everywhere, All At Once, Dark City, Chappie for the soundtrack and to indulge my fascination with robotics, Kaboom and of course the original Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Ohhh I've read great reviews of EEAAO. Gotta put that one on my list. I loved Chappie. Worth a re-watch. Dark City? It looks fantastic. Love me some Rufus Sewell! Same as Kaboom. Great choices! RHPS is mandatory viewing at least once a year! LOL
OMG...I love Neil and his husband!! They are so perfect. I think I would want to be a movie much like Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink that kind of movie. And to be directed by John Hughes. I would be played by Molly Ringwald and my love interest would be Josh Radnor. The soundtrack would of course be from the St. Elmo's Fire album.
Love, love, LOVE! John Hughes movies. So totally my vibe. I just watched The Breakfast Club last week. Josh Radnor is such a hot man. I loved Liberal Arts. St Elmo's Fire! Now I wanna watch that one too!
I LOVE YOUR MOVIE! I want to see it. Your casting is perfect. I love the idea of Harvey as a futuristic villainess. And your love interest is MY love interest... well, love is a little strong... let's just say I wanna get naked with that man. And Patrick and hubby are umm... flexible? Putting that in my future spank bank. Thanks for doing this and the shout out. See... I knew this was a fun quiz. Of course, I have a feeling wherever you go and whatever YOU do? The fun follows! Kizzes.
Hahaha I promise it won't be boring! And who would NOT want to get naked with Idris? I think even trees and boats want to get naked with that man. And Patrick and his hubby seem like two tons of fun. Bet Patrick is very well.... you know... And of course I had to attribute the fun to you. You've got the best quizzes!

Wait. No Buxtehude? May I suggest two movies that might be a must for you. My Brilliant Career, and They Shoot Horses Don't They.

I already have the film ready: the green mile
ReplyDeleteand let me add: The Shawshank Redemption
DeleteOMG yes!
DeleteI LOVE The Shawshank Redemption. The Green Mile is one that I have not revisited since I saw the movie. Two great King adaptations, btw.
XOXO
the green mile is the movie I've only seen once but I remember it well.
DeleteSounds like a good movie!
ReplyDeleteHeh
DeleteIt may be a box office smash with those leads, don't you think??
XOXO

DeleteKidding! And would this be Adam and Steve? Because if Ryan Gosling is wearing nothing but a fig leaf I'm in!

ReplyDeleteOh I would definitely watch this movie. What’s the title? The Many Lives and Loves of Sixpence?
LOL
DeleteNow THAT would be quite the title. And pretty accurate.
