Dancing to Resist
"Bolsonaro has spent months casting doubts on Brazil's electoral system and hinting that he might not accept the results if he failed to win another four-year term. On Sunday he had harsh words for Brazil's Supreme Electoral Court which oversees the voting.
Without offering any evidence he said of the election authorities, "They took sides. They have a candidate for president. Or at least there's one they don't want, which is me."
The Right and its populist candidates are taking over the fucking world. In Brazil, Lula (the opposition) won more votes, but Bolsonaro, the Cheeto of Brazil, did not go silently into the night. Bolsonaro is one of the worst things to happen to the country after it shook its dictatorship (which started in '64, with help from the United States and lasted 21 years, natch). Bolosnaro is also one of the most anti LGBTQ presidents in Latin America and has used hateful rhetoric to promote animosity against women, POC and queer people in Brazil while trying to 'other' anything that does not conform to a cisgender, straight, male point of view.
“Everybody is kind of aware of the term ‘toxic masculinity,’” Andrade says. “We’re proposing a concept we are calling ‘catastrophic masculinity,’ which is when a man can harm not only an individual or a family, but a whole country or a whole continent or even the planet.”
This “catastrophic masculinity” preys off of ‘otherness’ and is often presented to the public as “human decency” and the protection of “family values.” But in reality, catastrophic masculinity seeks to deny the existence of people who don’t fit the straight, cis, white male mold.
And this, Constant Reader, is what the people in the video are against. Next time you think 'courage'. Look this way. Queer people will give toxic masculinity a run for its hateful money every time. We did it here at Stonewall. Hopefully, these kids will do it in Brazil.

I have long time reader Adriano that lives in Brazil and he emailed occasionally and said that their dictator is completely insane. I went to Argentina he was kind enough to meet me. I think the only reason he stays in Brazil is because it's so pretty otherwise he said it's very bad for LGBT.
