If teardrops could be bottled
I am in a contemplative mood. I think it may have been that event at Q in Colorado, my trip to Boston or just because it's Fall. I also love it when another blogger's post sparks mine. This one was written because Debra posted about creative writing tips, and advised everybody two write in a Victorian style. I decided to try an AI generated villanelle because obviously, I am not good at writing poetry. I can barely type my name.
Jacob's Torment - The Villanelle Of The RingA Villanelle by SixpenceJacob couldn't stop thinking about the ringIt was just so light and greenBut he could never forget the stingThat morning, Jacob was shocked by the wingHe had to calm himself with a conveneJacob couldn't stop thinking about the ringLater, he realised that the ring was blingHe tried to focus on a queenBut he could never forget the stingJaffar tried to distract him with a slingSaid it was time to start thinking about a screenJacob couldn't stop thinking about the ringJacob took action like a swingThe ring was becoming too leanBut he could never forget the stingJacob nosedived like a golden kingHis mind became dangerously meanJacob couldn't stop thinking about the ringBut he could never forget the sting
So there it is. Welcome to my brain on a special day. I find writing liberating, hence this blog. It’s better than chocolate and cheaper than therapy.
XOXO
P.S. I still love Billie Eillish.
in a very poetic mood, as I can see & read!
ReplyDeletehappy weekend!
Haha
DeleteYes! Nobody can say I did not try.
XOXO
and successfully!
DeleteInteresting. Things just pop from my head through my fingers and onto the screen. I don't like Billie, her whisper singing is purely for manipulation.
ReplyDeleteBut Dave!
DeleteNot everybody has your... talent?
And she seems to be singing quite non-whispering in this live set. And I like the whole bedroom confessional style, so, yeah.
XOXO
I agree about feeling liberated putting your feelings down on paper without stopping to think too hard about it all. Just let it come out on the page ... xoxo
ReplyDeleteI know right?
DeleteWhat's awesome about blogging is that we can write about whatever the hell we feel like writing about.
Yes.
XOXO
Big says,
ReplyDeleteI love to write. Obviously. Am I good at it? I think so. Maybe. XOXO
Hahaha
DeleteWell, I think you are good at writing, so there's that.
XOXO
Rings, slings, swings -- I don't think those prudish Victorians would approve of your poem! Hahahahaha! Oh, and thanks for the shout-out.
ReplyDeleteHahaha
DeleteOh, I love so hard that you noticed that!
And of course I had to give you credit for the inspo.
XOXO
HuntleyBiGuy:
ReplyDeleteOk, my mind must be too puritanical: when I read about Jaffar and the sling, the first thing that popped into my head was one of them had an arm injury. Then I read Debra’s comment 🤦🏼♂️.
I’m glad you find writing liberating, babe. I love reading your thoughts and still feel connected.
XOXO 👨🏼❤️💋👨🏽
Hahaha
DeleteYour mind has NEVER been puritanical, bae. I can attest to that. And I do find writing liberating. And I like that you read me.
XOXO
I love your blog and some of what you write leaves me breathless. However, as far a poetry goes (and I am not an expert) my suggestion would be not to give up your day job. Love you anyway. Guess I am just to much a traditionalist.
ReplyDeleteAwww
DeleteThat's so nice! I'm so stoked you find the stuff I write interesting! Really.
And between you and I and the internet, I am not good for poetry. At all.
XOXO
How fun. Trying new things... always a good idea. Thanks for sharing this. Re: Billie... problematic. She did the Megan Trainor thing... where they are all body positive and love myself as is and then get popular and flip, becoming exactly what the industry demands of females... sexy. Bah. Musically, she can write, but I agree with Dave R. Her emo whisper non-sing has limited appeal. But... we all love what we love. You do you. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteI always like trying new things.
DeleteIt's fun! If I don't like them, well, I don't repeat them. It's simple.
And I don't think Billie flipped. If you saw her in this live concert, she's dressed in a quite pedestrian way: a big black crew neck sweater and baggy pants. Not sexy. She's sexy when she wants to be sexy (that Vanity Fair cover she art directed) I think. I don't see her conforming to any industry standard. Also, she's so successful she really does not have to please anybody at this point (that Oscar helps).
XOXO
Oh, and Boston always depresses me. I don't know what it is about that city. It feels oppressive and a tad ugly.
ReplyDeleteI actually stayed near the harbor and it was cool!
DeleteTons of museums and little restaurants and art galleries. Of course I had no time to do shit because they filled our days, but I was able to escape for a few hours...
XOXO
