Mango Mussolini

The thing with Cheeto and his bravado, is that it is completely contradictory. Like everything related to him and the incredible amount of fuckery he is capable of producing, it does not really make any sense. Except if you are a MAGAt. We know how he loves his low-information followers. They'll swallow without even chewing the information they receive from their leader. The uneducated do not care if their leader makes any sense. It’s all about ideology, not policy.

As Beau says, what Humpty Trumpty swears he has 'against' Death Santis kind of goes against the best interest of the Repugs (his own base). Can you even follow? It's the MAGAt logic. Everything is grievance, bravado, innuendo, half-truths and sound bytes (De Santos is now DeSanctimonious, a word few MAGAts can’t even spell). And Cheeto is saying all this because the 'Red Tsunami' of the midterms was really not that red and not really that much of the tsunami conservatives dreamed of:

"There's a potential narrative out of this night that if you're a discerning Republican voter trying to figure out the future, direction of this party, we once again learn that Trump is not a national winner for the Republicans," the GOP pundit told the panel. "But DeSantis may be the next evolution of someone who can marry what you like about Trump but also recover some people that went away from the party during Trump."

And that’s Fox News! Cheeto is feeling his grip on the GQP is kind of faltering. Infighting. It's fun. Also, De Santos is infinitely more dangerous than Cheeto.

XOXO

P.S. the Pink Dribble was quite the surprise for the Repugs, who thought they were gonna have an easy night. The Dems kind of showed up (I'm still hurting for Georgia and Texas, damnit!!) but not enough. I agree with Big when he says that reproductive rights did not bring as many women to the polls and that gun control was not as important as it should have been. All in all, apparently, Uncle Joe did much better than people were expecting:

And it was not all despair for LGBTQ+ people:

  1. So the "Red Wave" turned out to be more like shaking a can of cheap beer that had already gone flat and opening it to only get a little fizzle.

  2. I hope Trump and DeSantis go head to head for the Republican nomination and tear each other apart in the process. The Democrats need to find someone other than Biden. Time for some generational change! But who?

  3. In PA 57% of those voting for Fetterman were women, so in this state abortion mattered. Unfortunately, DeSantis only appeal comes from his use of the culture war. While conservatives love that, centrists and independents are more interested in how he deals with the economy. Also, don't count out hurricane Ian, his very public attention to that disaster helped him at the polls.

    Big Says,
My wife didn't want to watch any news. I should have been watched. Things would've looked better. There are reasons to be optimistic - folks commenting on my blog post (thanks for the mention, btw) and your post here have given me a reason to feel a whole lot better.
I think our governor race is a done deal and we're gonna end up with Orange Mussolini's pick, but I think Cortez-Masto can still pull it out. I sure hope so. Plus, if the Cheeto had that bad a night, perhaps Dumbardo will cool his heels. 😊 XOXO

  5. I woke up Wednesday a little worried about what the results would be but it turned out pretty good for the most part. A lot of doomsday predictions that didn't happen and we got to see the power of the people again. I wish I could say this will be the end of Trump. I know that is not the case but it feels good that we are getting closer to the end of him.

  6. I heard Biden say a Trump/ Desantis match would be very entertaining to watch. I agree. But either of them matched against Biden would get very ugly. I also heard many of those whackos say they couldn't possibly choose between Trump and DeSantis. Boo woo there both nuts. They say they will take trump in 2024 and then vote for DeSantis in 2028. Shows how far ahead we have to plan .......

Arrived in Ptown! It's glorious! No tourist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Though it could have been much worse, instead of moving the country forward over the next two years, we’ll have a logjam. Nothing will be done for the economy, and the people, and that will be a stain on the Democratic administration and could hurt the chances of the 2024 Democratic candidate.

We need a generational shift on the party and I’m not sure who can bring that.

To be clear, I’m not saying the logjam will be the fault of the Ds. The repugs tried to stonewall as much as possible the last two years and it just became easier.

    2. I agree completely hungry. If Republicans do take the house back, the Democrats are fucked till 2024. And I agree with your comment about a good candidate, I'm not really sure who that is either. Dems have a lot of work before 2024 and if we don't have the house then nothing is going to get done till 2024. Which as you said is not going to help a Democratic candidate.
