Oh, Mr. Wan...

I love houses with personality. I love houses that speak of the personality of the person who live in them even harder. It's sometimes hard to find a house that speaks to us as an extension of the person who lives there. I like people who let their houses do the talking. Also, I like people who can make the mundane memorable. Just look at his tv placement. To tell you the truth, I like it when people do not make their television set the central point in their homes. Really. I don't have a tv in the sitting area. Or my bedroom. There's a tv in what I call my 'entertainment area' and that's it. And it's visible because, well, we watch tv and listen to music and read in that space. I kind of don't understand people who have a tv in every room, TBH. Can’t see the use.

I like Gok's space because it's uniquely his.  It's quirky, it's fun, and it's colorful. No white spaces for him, either. And it all looks cool. He's a stylist, so I kind of expected his house to be over-curated and kind of sterile but it's quite the opposite. It's attractive, practical and unique and I'm here for it. And if he wants to use fairy lights indoors I support his choice. Also, Dolly is adorable.

Love the kitchen (I like the triangle formation with the kitchen island because it makes cooking easier!) and what he calls the Front Room. Love those terms. And I think this is a very good way to update an old house (Georgian, he says) and bring it into the XXI century without losing its charm. I loved the hidden basemen door and the closets (a man after my own heart, this Mr. Wan) and I was left with the feeling that I wanted to see more!

XOXO

  1. Hhhmm. Didn't like the TV mirror at all. I play games and that just wouldn't work. And that front room? Way, way too busy. The kitchen was nice, though.

    1. See, younger generations cannot live without their video games. If I were into video games, I'd have a video game room, bean bags and all. I actually liked the front room, very unusual.

    Big says,
Ok, it's a bit overdone for me, but... I agree with the TV thing. We have 2. One n the family room and one in the guest bedroom. The "wardrobe?" Yep. We each have walk-in closets and mine is as organized as his - like with like and arranged by color. That kitchen - absolutely. You should be able to work in a triangle. Love, love, love the flower tree with the faery lights. Our lights are outside in a big sage bush: Fireflies in the desert!! The disguised door to the basement? Love it. if we had a basement.... XOXO

I thought it was not too curated, which I appreciated. It looks like someone lives there, not some insta influencer. TVs in the family room are well, kind of by default the gadget to have. And I love the idea of walk-in closets. Dream.
And I thought the kitchen was very well organized and loved the tree with the lights, of course.

  5. How is it all these people live in these fabulous spaces and are so well organized and put together? I get up in the morning and if I'm lucky enough, stumble to the bathroom without tripping over a pair of shoes. I could never be so together. And I would just love to live in a space that contains only the things I love and need. I have so much inherited garbage that I cannot part with out of a sense of guilt(?). Sigh. There... that is why these vids send me over the edge. I know your place is perfect, too, hon... and it just makes me want to crawl under my bed and cuddle up with all the dust bunnies. Kizzes.

I feel you, Upton. But it's just a matter of not letting the detritus of the day take over. Once you have a routine for that (shoes in their place, same for socks and books, etc) it's easy to keep a place neat.
And I think you don't give your inherited garbage the props it probably deserves. I'm sure there's people who think he has a lot of garbage. We just find it pretty.

P.S. Maddie and I will make a road trip one of these days and will give your space a makeover. Just wait and see. LOL

  6. I am in total agreement with you, Sixpence. I love Mr. Wan's space because quirky, fun, and quite colorful. The accent helps too. If he had a Southern drawl, I don't think it would be as appealing.

That's the vibe I got from the place. And an accent (especially a British one) always makes everything betta.

  7. Hell honey, he had ME at the tv in the disguise of a mirror!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is genius! I agree, I hate seeing a tv anywhere which is why mine always sits in a armoire, so I can close the doors on when I'm done watching. But yes...I also loved the kitchen and my other favorite area? The outside courtyard!!!!

He has a very fun vibe. And since we always tawk men sexy...yes, I would love to bend him over and fuck him.

And that frame? I was like, I approve. Some TVs, even the most stylish ones are just a huge black hole on the wall. The outside courtyard was super cute. It gave me Sunday Brunch vibes.
And he is attractive... I'd like to watch.

    HuntleyBiGuy:
I think he’s giving you a run for your money in the shoe department.

The house is well appointed and I love the kitchen. I can understand having the tv hidden, but I think the mirror concept isn’t the way to go. Daytime viewing would be difficult because of the reflective properties of the mirror.

But all in all I do like it.

Oh, you silly goose. I wish I had all those shoes. And again, I found the kitchen pretty and practical, which is something we don't find often? And I think TV sets should not be in the living room. Nope. If I remember well, you have a family room and there's your TV. The way the goddess intended it to be.

      XOXO
