Oh, Denali... (and Donut!)

When I think of @Denali I first think about the Drag Race contestant and then about the Alaska National Park. Because of course I do. I have not seen Denali live (the pandemic and all that, natch) but we are planning on going to one of her shows (and hopefully seeing @kahmorahall too!). Overall, I think Chicago girls are awesome.

I liked Denali in Drag Race. She was one of my favorites, especially after that lipsync against Kahmora. Her drag is quirky but sophisticated and she's mad talented. I love when Drag artists take us into their inner sanctums. It humanizes them, it makes them much more complex than the beautiful character they portray for us to enjoy.

Drag has made a leap from smokey Wednesday night fillers to international events. I am currently trying to bum the UK vs the world session going on right now and I will be seeing Jinx and Dela here in Chi today with the wyphe and her girl. I think Drag is performance art and gender guerrilla all wrapped up in a very pretty package and as such, I really appreciate the artists who create it. Also. it's good to remind people (especially gay men) that the people behind the Drag persona have full, happy lives. And that they also count.

XOXO

Oh, BTW:

Multiple far-right groups in the state have now created “alert systems” to warn their acolytes when a drag performance is nearby. Home-grown terrorism at its best:

The Texas Family Project, a right-wing nonprofit based in Austin, has launched a campaign to “Defend Texas Kids” by creating an “alert system” for drag shows happening in the state — or, as its mission statement calls them, “attacks on our children’s innocence” and “public displays of sexual degeneracy.” On the campaign’s website, visitors who click “Report” are urged “Is your town hosting a Drag Show? Report it now!”

  1. Drag queens are scary and must be stopped, but pedophile priests and members of the clergy need our love.
    Ain't THAT America?

    1. ABSOLUTELY!
It kills me that every other day we learn of a catholic priest or a youth pastor who has abused tons of young people, but the 'conservatives' are attacking fucking Drag Queens!!!
      How's that for irony?

  2. Big says,
DRAG performance has been around for centuries. Some of our most celebrated Hollywood actors have performed in drag. It's time to haul it ALL out of the closet. Who do we talk to about screenings of movies with those so we can show the bigoted asshats what frightened little snowflake whiners they are? XOXO

    1. Of course Drag has been around forever.
It's the new bogeyman of the radical right: get the gender guerrilla and accuse it of corrupting the kids. It's their 2022 'think of the children'. Funny that most pedos are from the right, not the left.

  3. Actually, when I think of Denali, I think of a very large and luxurious pickup truck. đŸ›»đŸ›»đŸ›»

    1. Oh, yes.
That sixty thousand dollar Viagra replacement of a truck. I've seen it. I always judge a man for his ride. It has never failed me.

  4. I don't know too much about DeLa... but Jinx Monsoon is worth the ticket price alone. Those two literally are like night and day. But I cannot lie I have never been a big fan of Denali and I still cannot put my finger on why. When attack of the stunning was in the US with Juno Birch did you ever catch that when I came to Chicago? I caught that when it came to Philly and she was with licorice black. That's another queen it was just sickening with her performance.

    1. And I might add I think now more than ever is more important to support drag shows and local Queens. Because of what's going on in the news now will have some leery.

    2. OMG Maddie!
It was FANTASTIC. Jinx is a powerhouse. And they filled the theater. This is not a small venue, mind you. And it was fucking packed. Fantastic energy. And can Jinx sing!
I love me some Denali. I like her drag and her attitude. And Juno Birch is in my bucket list! Now more than ever we need to support our local Drag artists. You know that when the Right does not like something, it's because it's good.

  5. That last little item kills me... OH... the threat of drag! My word. Tell those silly bitches to sit the fuck down and take a calmatron. What the living hell? More Million Moms BS? The only saving grace? Whatever they do? It never works. It always backfires on them. The Proud Boys recently went to protest at a gay bar and ended up singing on the sidewalk to YMCA.... we are in their f'ing DNA... deny us? Hardly, sweetheart. Thanks for this. Denali? Not my cup. Too mercenary. My fave queens all have a natural lightness, a sense of humor and hearts larger than their headpieces. Kizzes.

The Nazis and White Supremacists are ambushing Drag shows!! I hope the queers call the police on them. And I like Denali. I am going to make sure that I see her perform soon.
