Living IS The Event
@Alok is right:
"Imagine having the ability to live on earth, such a sacred place with so many beautiful things, and wasting your time hating me when you could be free."- Alok Vaid-Menon
XOXO
P.S. yes, style is about an audience of one.
Too many people are stifled by the fear of what others think. Who gives a damn. Be yourself.
ReplyDeleteI know, right?
DeleteBut it's because so many people have given others way too much power. If they ain't payin' your rent, pay them bitches no mind...
XOXO
I really could care less what others wear... except for extremely overweight people wearing see through, camo yoga pants; I draw the line there.
ReplyDeleteLMAOOOO
DeleteOMG Dave. I'm cackling so hard I cannot type well.
XOXO
HuntleyBiGuy:
ReplyDeleteThere is so much wisdom in this piece. Be who you want to be. Don’t wait for a special occasion to celebrate. EVERYDAY is a special occasion. Alok is who we should all strive to be.
XOXO 👨🏼❤️💋👨🏽
I loved it.
DeleteSo wise, so coherent, so eloquent. And I dress every day as if it's my bday.
XOXO
HuntleyBiGuy:
DeleteOoo a birthday suit?
Obviously it is good to live as he wants. If it is stressful to live as you are, that is, a lot outside the classic canons, I think it is equally stressful to live in the continuous lie towards oneself first of all.
ReplyDeleteHonestly one thing must be said: it is easy (or less difficult) to be yourself in Paris or London (or in my city: Milan). Much less easy in Tehran, Moscow or Warsaw.
Oh, Alok's gone through some serious bullying, even now.
DeleteI know they closed their Instagram's comments to avoid the barrage of stupidity that people would post.
And you are correct: it is easier to be ourselves is some places. And you know that if there's a theocracy or a strongman, there is no freedom.
XOXO
p.s. I'd LOVE to go to Milano.
in fact, Milan is having a good time, since the 2015 Expo. (I mean here). While the period around 2000 was quite low, because there was a lot of dirt and insecurity and crimes and homicides (and luckily normal citizens can't use weapons, unlike the USA!!!).
DeleteAlok is Jesus for our time!
ReplyDeleterAmen, sister!
DeleteI love the eloquence. The poise. The emotional intelligence.
XOXO
Really an interesting piece. And on a personal note: A very attractive person both physically and spiritually.
ReplyDeleteWasn't it?
DeleteI really liked it. And you are right: Alok is a very attractive person and the fact that they look like that, helps.
XOXO
Big says,
ReplyDeleteI have always dressed for myself. 'Course, that means jeans and t-shirts. Or naked. LOL. XOXO
Same.
DeleteI literally buy what I see and decide I need to have in my life. And I love jeans. And I'd like to go naked more often...
XOXO
How lovely. I adore color. And I adore people who express themselves with it. Bravo. He's not brave... he's happy. I'm happy for him. We should all be so fucking happy. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteI love the pattern/color combos! So absolutely alive!
DeleteAnd I'm also happy with Alok. And I agree we should all be happier...
XOXO
