Meatballing it

Drag is the act of highlighting and emphasizing various feminine and masculine features, and it provides an avenue through which people can both subvert and celebrate gender expressions.
Drag often gets conflated with cross-dressing, but the two are not synonymous, said Melanie Walsh, a psychology professor at the University of New Haven. Drag emphasizes community and celebration, while cross-dressing is generally a more solitary activity.
"What separates the two is the performative element," Walsh said. Cross-dressing "is not part of that collective community."

Drag is subversive. Drag is Punk Rock. Drag comments on gender and on politics and on everyday life as well as gender roles and our perception of them. Drag is also witty, and raw and funny and if you clicked on that video, I know you'll agree with me.

So here's @spiciestmeatball skewering George Santos. Because if there's any Repug worth of a dress-down read, is Miss Kitara Ravache. Also, note the song is from The Greatest Showman: the bearded lady sings it. You know, Drag. Always very Meta. Always on point.

Werk.

  2. People have always asked, like dumb ones...'Oh your a cross dresser." And like the infamous Noxzema Jackson have to explain.

"When a straight man puts on a dress and gets his sexual kicks, he is a transvestite. When a man is a woman trapped in a man's body and has a little operation, he is a Transsexual . And when a gay man has way TOO MUCH fashion sense for one gender he is a drag queen!"

Yep always been a drag queen. If you ever get to New York I have a list for you too see of drag queens...Meatball being one of them.

    1. That's because people are mentally lazy and do not mind coming across as stupid mofos. The distinction could not be clearer.
And I'd LOVE to go NY and go pay the Dolls a visit!

The shake-and-go wig, the reveal, the make up on stage. Fabulous.

    HuntleyBiGuy:
This was AWESOME! Santos is such filth. He is the epitome of the repuglican organization right now. They can’t even be called a political party. They are nothing but a bunch of thugs hanging on by their un-manicured fingernails right now. And with the many travails of the Florida shit for brains (the old orange one, not the wannabe, though his time will come) they are desperate.

And I am so happy watching the Repugs struggle with their fuckery that I thought this was just appropriate for today.

That was hilarious. Excellent job of slaying that Repug idjit. "...drag is performative" - and can be quite INformative. XOXO

Santos is a laughingstock and deserves every second of derision thrown his way.
Drag IS performance and it does inform, so yeah.

  6. Most of the complaints I hear are about Drag. I suppose some of these complainers believe Drag performers stay in Drag 24 /7. While a few performers might, most go about their daily lives being themselves.

Those idiots. But we have to always remember that it's their fear at seeing the gender binary contested what does not let them SEE.

  7. the physical contrast is very strong, because the drag queen clothes are put on a hairy male body. Did I just notice it?

    1. And I think that's why it works so fantastically.
Drag is a study in contrasts and this is a great example of that.

  8. How much fun is that. I love it when drag and politics meet. That kind of drag - social commentary/political parody - that should become more of a thing. Kizzes.

    1. Oh, I wish I could see this live.
I bet it's fab. And Drag is always social commentary. It becomes art when it's political parody. Many Drag artists do this. I'd recommend The Vivienne doing the Orange One. Look it up on Youtube.
