Oh, Mr. Berman...

First, I love the whole Before/After situation when they give us house tours. Most times we see the 'After' and that's all. But for me, the 'Before' is as important. Second, this man has one of the most beautiful houses I've shown here. The colors, the artwork the furniture, the styling. The not forgetting where the brownstone comes from... Everything screams both classy and unique.

It's clear that he knows what he's doing. Livable Modernism is right, and he's not coy about the effort: it took them about seven years to get to this point and let me tell you, I would have waited, too. The final result is fantastic.

They have lived in the house for twelve years, apparently, and they know that it's a historical landmark. For those of you who have worked on your houses or someone else's you KNOW that's a big responsibility. They knew the details they wanted to keep and where to find people to help them with the details that needed upkeep. That, my dear Constant Reader, is a labor of love.

I love this house very much. Its core is solid and it is well appointed but it's the details (the paint used, the artwork they chose, the layout of the furniture) what makes it so completely awesome. He's obviously proud of the house and he absolutely should. And then he says the house is a reflection of his relationship with his husband and I got all the feels. And now I'm going to shut up and let you watch the video. Because I know you wanna...

XOXO

P.S. this is one of sexiest men I've seen in awhile. Goddess, I watched this video three times just to see those pectoral muscles flex and to watch him walk... *fans self*

  1. I like parts, as I always do, but find the kitchen and bathroom a little too modern for the home; I like modern, but wish they had retained some of the old, or tried to mimic some of the old.
Still a Brooklyn Brownstone? Yes, please.

    1. I loved everything. Literally.
I found the powder room to be absolutely fantastic. I find the contrast of the details of the house with the modern interior to be totally cool.

  2. Very nice, except for their painting the woodwork. With their money they could easily have afforded to have it refinished.

    1. I actually agree with him.
Jimmy had the same problem but I like what they did. That reddish walnut-y lacquered into oblivion was not gonna work for me either. They did say they stripped it down and then modernized it, though...

    1. I agree.
The level of sophistication! But it's not untouchable, if you know what I mean. I imagine the house has to be practical if you have a kid and a dog...

  4. Big says,
I like everything about it. Well, almost everything. I'm not a fan of too much wood but when I see someone who boasts about retaining the integrity of the original and then has painted all that wood trim...well, I want to slap them. The painted runner up the stairs...will soon get worn through and look shoddy. The tile in the primary bath? Yeah, he loves the texture that "jumps out." Know why he loves it? Cuz someone else cleans it. LOL. Love the artwork, love that chandelier in the dining room. XOXO

    1. Haha I like the wood trim paint in the entrance!
I think he talked about some details that they did like in the house (the shutters, for example). And the runner is something I've seen in many houses. Keeping up the paint is really not a big deal.
And you just KNOW they probably have a little help with the upkeep of the house...

The house was apparently in terrible disrepair. They have awesome taste.

  6. Now this one is way more me and where I'm at right now with styling and "less". I have always wanted one of the jofa's..a couch and chaise combo. They are so brillant. The only room I didn't care for was the kitchen, which was way to modern and "cold" feeling for me. I like a little more warmth. But the bedroom I love too. The only thing missing was me naked on all fours waiting for him!!!!!

When it Budapest there are many apartments in townhouses like this or whole townhouses for rent that look like this. And the sick part? Unlike the US...they are affordable!!!!!!!!! Warbuck's rent his flat...and it is very pretty and nice size...huge windows nice woodwork and such and pays what would be the equivalent of $975 in US dollars. That would be unheard here!!!!! I guess in the US....literally everything is going up.

    1. I think they have very nice taste.
You know it's expensive, but it does not 'look' expensive. Great design and fantastic materials. I kind of liked the kitchen. I don't cook, so....
And I can believe about Budapest. Everybody who travels abroad always tell me about how much more affordable housing is everywhere else. Also, loved your pics!!

  7. Very pretty. But who wants to live in Architectural Digest? Seriously? I would never want to live in Home Furniture ad. No. Bad house porn.
