Oh, Mr. Dipiero...

Oh, yes. Compact, adorable and just the right size. That's how I like them. Especially in New York, this kind of apartment would be ideal: not too small that you can barely turn around and with enough light to help you realize you're not living underground.

I love how every area is kind of clearly separated from the other even though the apartment is so compact? Did you realize they call this kind of apartment a Junior One bedroom? Smart real state trick. But I do like the idea of the bedroom being separate from the 'living' space. And this is where I feel that having a muted, neutral palette works wonders with the space.  And I WANT that lamp!!!

I think if I ever retire (as things go, I'll be working until I'm seventy!!) and I'm living alone, I'd like to have a place like this. I'd have my records, my books and space for my computer so I can blog. Oh, yes, I'll be a bitter old queen blogging from her living room. Watch out!

XOXO

P.S.: taste the rainbow. That’s what’s gotten the homophobes in a tizzy.

Every streamer I pinkwashed right now. Take advantage of it and watch Queer content. Go ahead, I support you.

Happy Pride!

  1. That place is huge compared to my tiny little apartment at "the home". But, when you turn 70 and retire and would like the company of a man who will probably be over 100 by then you are welcome here where the weather will sooth your tired old bones. All except one that is and that will be my job. Now I have embarassed myself and I am blushing.

Oh, Jon. The weather soothing my bones and attention from such a gentleman? Very, very tempting. Such a charmer.

OK, I like this space and I could live there. It's light and airy and **feels** bigger than it is. The modern design is my preference all the way. That light in the bedroom? Yes, please.
I'm surprised by how much of your Pride list we've watched. Support! XOXO

He had you at IKEA 😎. This is an adorable apartment. When I first saw EVERYTHING in white, I was a little put off. But the more we went through the tour, I came to like it. And finding the fireplace beneath the plaster is a plus. Even if it’s not a working fireplace, candles become the fire.

I’m not sure if it was the way it was picked up in the video, but the lighting in the bedroom could have been a little softer. I think it was too white. But overall, I like this space.

    1. Oh, and BTW I have a working (gas) fireplace and I'm deathly scared of it. I have turned it on ONCE.

    3. You should not be surprised.
When I lived in the apartment there was a fireplace. It had fairy lights in it because I refused to turn it on, too!
I just don't trust gas fireplaces.

You do know me. I think combining Ikea with more expensive things is the way to go. And I love the light colors (even that fireplace!) in such a small space, they work like magic. And the accents bring the color.

  6. I am dying to see Somebody Somewhere. Bridget Everett is AMAZING. Love her so much. Great sensitivities and such a talent. This apartment... adorable. Perfection. Clean. White. Smart. Bravo. Not mucked up. Not greedy and overly large. I love all the light. What a lucky soul. I can't imagine what he pays each month... ouch. Thanks for sharing.

And I also liked his apartment because it's not a showcase by it's cozy. And you KNOW there's coins involved in that rent. You know how it is...

    1. But Dave,
Not everybody has your privilege. You may be able to afford a three bedroom in NY but not him... And it's called 'style'?

  8. Yes honey this is what I'm talking about. And I can easily live in that. I don't know why people feel they have to have all the space. I'll tell you why, cuz most people are pack rats and don't know how to downsize. This guy has done everything right. And I respectfully disagree with Butch above. A space like that needs to be either white... or in the light gray Spectrum, or cream to make it feel bigger. The placement of that mirror is perfect on the floor, as mirrors always make a place look bigger. And the accent chairs is perfect as it brings the color in. Although this place could use some accents of color, but I would never paint the whole area of dark color not in this small space. I'm almost jealous of him that I want this place. When we retire six, why don't we just split the rent and live in it. I promise to stay on my side of the bed. This is making me want to move back into the city.

    1. I know right? I also want this place!
It has the essentials. But people think they need three bedrooms and a basement for a single person. It's a very consumerist, capitalist way of seeing 'comfort'.
And I think the color choice was on point. That apartment is not big and it doesn't have a ton of light: the palette makes it look bigger by default.

OMG can you imagine us being roomies?

And I may have something on the wall in the bedroom, but that's about it. He's curated that space beautifully.
