Oh, Vin...

I think we all should picture what it would be like to live in a smaller space than we are used to. I also think we should kind of envision what we would like the space to look like. Take this apartment. In Singapore, this kind of apartment is probably the rule, not the exception (Americans waste too much space, natch) and it is most probably a hot commodity.

When watching these videos, I usually like when they show us the 'before' because then we can see how someone's vision came to be. This is 493 sq. ft. so it's a little bigger than Jon's efficiency apartment, but I think this could give him an idea of what can be done to distribute the furniture and create 'spaces', like they did here. Because it's a rental, he probably cannot change much of the layout, but the placement of the furniture can be moved around, right?

I like that they were able to move some walls and the use of light colors (I know, some people like their colors, but remember, it's less than 500 sq. ft.!) and that sitting room is fab. He even has that huge tv there (it's bigger than mine, for example). I also like how all that light makes those dark walls seem less imposing (and they are at the entrance, which probably gives you the illusion of walking into a much bigger place.)

I love how they were able to give us both a pocket door and storage while dividing the living room from the bedroom. Smart. And that bathroom? Small but SPA quality. And the kitchen? They used that space very smartly. And he has washing/drying machine in the apartment. Smart.

I could totally live here. But not in Singapore, mind you. Real state is really in high demand there. This is not Peoria, people!

XOXO

P.S. And here's a Pride suggestion for your queue, if you have Netflix. Or know someone with an account...

Happy Pride!!

  2. Not my style. Also, remember, Singapore is one of the most anti-gay countries in the world that has public floggings and jail time for gays.

    1. Hahaha of course not.
And this is about design and style, babes. And about how absolutely wasteful and greedy Americans are. But of course you would not see that. Trees, meet Dave.

    2. Well, Dave just burst my bubble of doing drag again. I was going to take my drag act there and perform as Singapore Sling.

  3. Thanks for the mention. However, if your readers go beyond that particular post they may be entering a realm they are not expecting. Now as for your posting. They always are entertaining and often actually provoke thought in my cob web infested brain. But I find myself going back to Mateo over and over because these days I find myself more in need of a smile and a hearty laugh.

And Matteo is of course welcome every day in this house, too!

I think this is a smart use of the space. The pocket doors are great since you don’t need “swing” space for a conventional door, especially in the small, yet stylish, bathroom. The galley kitchen is very functional.

The ceiling height is nice, but where do you store your ladder for the floor to ceiling storage😎?

I did not think about that. Bet it's hidden somewhere. They took advantage of every inch of space, that's for sure...

  5. I love the simplicity of the black and white and lovelovelove a black room. It might be a bit small for us, but gimme a second smaller bedroom and I might be into it,

    1. Absolutely.
I think it's great for one person (I'm thinking me living alone) but a second bedroom would make this a knockout. I'm thinking about people who do not have a lot of space or are renters. This would be awesome.

  6. I was just know able to access your blog. I had to sneak in your back door!

I like small spaces and I agree about seeing the before and after to see the vision. But this apartment would be perfect for me if I want to check myself in to an institution....man is this clinical looking...I just need my straight jack, and who ever can have there way with me, lol!

But in my head I can see what I'd do with it.

The back door, huh? Is Blogger being a pain again?
And I really like the size and what they did with the space. I love that all-black space at the entrance too. And I think I'd add some artwork , but the rest is fine with me.

  7. I watched that comedy special... had mixed feeling about it. Ultimately? Not for me. Too myopic. Gay guys are super into themselves? Who knew? As for the house porn... love that space. I want to live in a hotel... a reasonable one... not super chic, but comfortable, new and clean. I like the expediency. I like that it's exactly what you need and nothing more. That is how we should all inhabit this planet. Kizzes.

    1. Oh, I like Booster's dry sense of humor. And gay guys need to constantly being reminded that they ARE too much into themselves. We don't learn.
As for the space: yes! We all should inhabit a place where the unnecessary is discarded.
