Big Boys

Ok, so I really wanna see this. I have no idea if it's going to get a wide release or if it's going to be streamed, but it does look super interesting. I kind of relate, because when I was a teen, I was drawn to guys who were 'older'. And by older I mean they were around nineteen. And older, as in late twenties. So yeah. The thing is, as I got older, so did the objects of my affection. I've never been one to enjoy younger men. They bored me. Still do.

I think it's important to take into account that in this kind of coming-of-age tales, the object of the younger man's affection is always some buff, athletic dude. But in this case, it's your garden variety man the one who kind of sets off the sparks of attraction. And I'm here for it. I do get the attraction the quarterbacks and the sports players from high school have in many a gay boy, but I kind of drifted to the more guy-next-door dude. I always knew I liked boys. My first kiss was with my very-garden-variety-kind-of-dude best friend, who was two years older than I was at the time (that's ages when you're thirteen) and I first had sex with a guy who was probably four years my senior. He looked like a man and felt like a man. He was also the first man I saw shoot a load. It was thrilling.

Also, this is the story of a teen who is not like Victor, (in Love, Victor) or Simon (in Love, Simon) or like Charlie and Nick (in Heartstopper). This time the story revolves around Jamie, a teen who most probably has to buy his clothes at the 'husky' section of the store, and I find that totally refreshing. I was not a husky kid, mind you, but I was interested in older, husky men when I was a teen. Still am. So this rings true.

Apparently, this is Corey Sherman's first feature film and it's been doing the festival cycle. Can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

XOXO

P.S. And you, Constant Reader? When did you 'know'?

  1. Interesting, but I'm not really into "coming of age" films.

    1. Of course you are not, Dave. Of course.
And what would be interesting is to know who you lost your virginity to...

  2. Big says,
This looks like a really sweet coming of age film. It's about time someone did one about the husky dude, cuz that was me until 10th grade. Lost a ton over the Summer between 9th and 10th. When did I know guys interested me as much as women? Gosh, not until I was in my late 20s. Late bloomer, huh? XOXO

    1. Oh, it looks it can be very good.
And you have no idea how many men were indeed that boy. And late twenties is not a late bloomer for a Bi man... I think it may be average?

    HuntleyBiGuy:
I was that husky boy. I struggled with weight most of my life. I lost weight in my thirties, put most of it back on, like so many people. I finally was able to lose over 60 pounds through WeightWatchers and have been pretty successful in keeping it off and leading a healthier lifestyle.

I first realized that I had an attraction to guys in high school, always looking at the cute, trim guys with the nice ass. Thinking what it would be like to be them, and then thinking what it would be like to be WITH them. But I was scared to make a move, and didn’t have my first M2M experience until my late 30s. I haven’t looked back. I still have an attraction to both men and women. The object of Jamie’s desire could get it any time.

    1. Aww bae.
I can just picture you. And you did do that.
And I just told Big that for Bi men it is not uncommon to have experiences with men later than gay men.

  4. Sweet.
I feel like I always knew, though maybe I wasn't sure what it was that I knew, just that I didn't like the same things as other boys, unless it was other boys.

  5. Watch the big boy, end up being pretty and ripped in the sequel if it does well. I was always a jock and into sports before going in and coming out of the service. It was there I found attraction to smaller and lean guys. Most muscle boys like others jocks, but not me.

    1. Hahaha a glow-up, huh?
And many men go through that phase. Many of the jocks I grew up with ended up being gay. I was shocked. Maybe the military was the catalyst??

Well, you have read part of my story on my Blog. My "coming out" was when I was just short of 14 with the usher in a movie theatre. I think he was in his early 20. So, yes, older. As I read you posting I thought there might be hope for me until you said the older men you find of interest are most often "husky". I would have to gain a good deal of weight which probably would not be of benefit to my heart or my Diabetes. Darn, so close yet so far away.

    1. Ohhh yes!
And of course there's hope! Hey, the operative word is 'of interest'. I like men, and that includes all kinds of men. Do I like big bruisers? I do. But that does not preclude me looking at and being interested in all kinds of men...
