Oh, M. Sauvage...
True. This one's in Paris, so yeah. Some differences may apply. What does not change is that it reflects its owner's tastes and story. I think this kind of home has a wider appeal because it's a combination of modern and classic, which I find very attractive (I do tend towards the modern, but that's because I have not invested in substantial pieces. Maybe later? I have no idea) but the contrast looks fantastic.
Again, the combination of textures and colors is what makes the home what it is: cozy but luxurious. Don't you think? Yes, the high ceilings and the boiserie do help, natch. But really, I was surprised by the comfort that the whole place kind of exudes? I feel like you could just sit down and chill. And those planters!!
I was not expecting the orchid table or the dining room, to tell you the truth. And the door in the library??? And the bedroom. Yes, I know. And that touch in the bathroom is quite unusual. I'm sure probably some of you will let us know if it's wise or not. Also, this is a house with pets. French pets, of course.
Note to Maddie: yes, I'd kill for those closets, too.
XOXO
I love the wood paneled living area; nice that they saved the wood. But on the other hand that blue dining room is stunning, if a bit fussy for me. He chooses some interesting colors and they all work well together.
ReplyDeleteA couple of edits and I could take it over for him.
xoxo
Yes!
DeleteThey kept the original wood and it was totally worth it! Beautiful detail. His style IS a little bit fussy, but I kind of expected it.

ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic home. I think the color palette is very masculine with bold blues and the wood paneling. The use of flowers everywhere brings the outside in. My jaw dropped when the door opened in the bookshelf in the library. The ceiling in the bathroom has me a bit concerned…is that a hole to the upper floor? Overall, I love this place.
XOXO 👨🏼❤️💋👨🏽
It is a beautiful home.
DeleteI was a little overtaken by the color in the bedroom, but the other rooms seem to work well with the saturated colors. Loved the flowers. And that hidden door? So cool.
And I was more concerned about the rug in the bathroom than the hole in the ceiling! LOL
XOXO
Um...yeah! The woodwork in the salon is positively stunning. The chandelier? Oh, my - it surprised me in a good way. But I was quite disappointed that he painted it all in the dining room. When I see that kind of craftsmanship in woodwork painted over I want to slap a bitch. The only other thing that I would never do: wall-to-wall carpet in the bathroom. Gross. The rest is beautiful - the closet above bathroom - genius! The library? I could live in that room. XOXO
ReplyDeleteYes! The boiserie, as they call it. Stunning.
DeleteAnd I think most people paint over the moulding, no? The chair rails and the such. And THANK YOU! I was like, the carpet in the bathroom is slightly not-practical? But you know, the French.
The library was epic.
XOXO
Very nice, color without all the clutter. Those ceilings are amazingly high. He just needs to get himself a bigger dog to go with the apartment. By the way, she probably should not have tried to speak French. 😎😎😎
ReplyDeleteWait what?
DeleteIt was not cluttered? I was certain you were going to bring your dusting comment. It may not look cluttered because the rooms are HUGE, but he likes his stuff. And big dogs belong in farms, not apartments.
Her French is not too shabby, for an American.
XOXO
Gorgeous flowers! Cute dogs! Love the library door! But too much velvet furniture for my taste.
ReplyDeleteOh Debs!!!! Have you ever sat naked on velvet furniture?!? Comfy and pure decadence!!!!!
DeleteOh the flowers were the touch I needed.
DeleteThe cute little dogs were perf. And I didn't quite mind the velvet. It's a delicate fabric, but it's so pretty!
And according to @Mads, quite decadent! LOL
XOXO
Color, color, color...I could live there with ease. I might have to take on a bit of Frankophile pretention but that would just be fine with me.
ReplyDeleteHe uses color in a very charming way.
DeleteI loved that dining room and those planters! And you know, speaking French can come quite handy sometimes...
XOXO
Yep, the closets!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhile this is big, to much for me...but the style is most close to mine than any other video you posted about. And this proves color injects life onto a place even with whites and creams on walls. I love most about this is the use of color. I'm also a sucker for paneled walls, and wainscotting. And the touch in the bathroom? I LOVE IT. I love anything out of the box, and I have never seen a rug in the bathroom like that. Why be like everybody else???
Those closes were EVERYTHING.
DeleteAnd I also found it a tiny tad too much in some places. And thank you! The balance of the use of color and textures is what makes this place so especial. He also has some very nice furniture, but the color splashes made those rooms special.
I was thrown by the rug in the bathroom, though. Probably fabulous in winter, but.. I splash! LOL

This made me think of all the California porn palaces in L.A. Seriously. If I walked in this dude's house I would just start looking for the cum stains. It all strikes me as a tad tacky. Was he going for that 1975 Playboy grotto look? I am stumped. I mean, if that is what he was going for... bravo. He nailed it. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteLMAOOO
DeleteSo it gave you Penthouse Magazine? Maybe Lui? And it is a tiny bit over the top, but remember this is an old Parisian apartment. He also seems to be one of those 'classic' interior designers who work with people with tons of money, so...
XOXO
so relaxing colours! what infinite pleasure!
ReplyDeleteYes, the use of colors makes this house, definitely.
DeleteI think it's sophisticated but cozy, if that makes sense.
