Virginia, it's for LoVe ...
"So, what is a Creative Director? The role of a creative director has changed drastically in the past decade, becoming more complex, it no longer begins and ends with solely designing collections anymore. As one of the highest creative positions in a fashion house, the creative director formulates and inspires the design team an overarching concept for the collections, think of the creative director as the constructor of an orchestra. The creative director becomes synonymous with the fashion house or brand, meaning they are entrusted with a lot of commitment and accountability, as the sole vision of the brand as a whole is placed in their hands. It is far more than overseeing designs and garment construction, they are responsible for executing and developing the vision for the whole brand; from the brand values and mission to their campaigns, all the creative concepts are in their hands."
When Virgil Abloh was in charge of Louis Vuitton I was constantly amazed by the brand. He really brought something 'extra' to the design and conception of each runway. When he passed away, I wondered what they were going to do with the brand. And lo and behold, they named Pharrell Williams their Creative Director. I tut-tutted and pondered what the collection was gonna be (the expectations were high) and I think that as event, the runway show was a success (millions watched) and it was literally a star-studded event (from Rihanna to Beyoncé, everybody who is somebody was there). Now, as for the collection? I loved many things, especially the accessories (LV is very strong on those!) and here's some of my favs:
I would wear ALL OF THIS.
Cammo done RIGHT. And I'd shank a bitch for that crossbody.
The blocking in this suit.
Down to the Mary Jane's.
In case somebody invited me to Prom.
That Speedy bag! Also, could I keep the man?
I think Pharrell did well. He brought the spectacle to France (it took place on the Pont Neuf Bride in the 1er arrondissement) and the show bridged well European sensibility with American practicality. Not bad for a neophyte, IMHO.
XOXO
P.S. they brought 18 million people to the show. Not bad for a collection from a brand with a new creative director.
Great works!
ReplyDeleteThe role of a creative director has changed drastically in the past decade, becoming more complex, - inho - because it is increasingly difficult to invent something new.
Absolutely!
DeleteThey revived Gucci with the help of their creative director. Same happened here. And there's nothing new in fashion. Only styled or sewn differently...
XOXO
HuntleyBiGuy:
ReplyDeleteThat is the longest runway that I have ever seen in all of your videos. There were many nice items. I liked the pajamas and the red suit at 11:27. I’m glad the luggage got a starring role, also.
XOXO 👨🏼❤️💋👨🏽
Hahaha
DeleteWell, this one and that Dolce and Gabbana one in Northern Africa, remember. Oh, the pajamas. Beyoncé was wearing that in yellow. And you know that LV has always had the BEST accessories...
XOXO
That last photo ... you can have the bag, but give me the clothes and the man.
ReplyDeletexoxo
I know, RIGHT????
DeleteI almost fainted.
XOXO
Big says,
ReplyDeleteYou'd wear everything abut that? Really? Even the combat boots?? LOL. Oddly enough, I'd wear the camo. (Go figure.) So much to like there, so much to not like. But why would anyone question the creative ability of a creative person like Pherrell? XOXO
Yep. Even the combat boots.
DeleteAnd the camo is fab here. And I was kind of surprised and not surprised. He's always had style. Always.
XOXO
Sorry, but camo? Next thing you know they'll be walking down the runway carrying a six-pack of Bud (not light, of course).
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
DeleteAnd this is kind of Minecraft Camo. Love it. And you know that Bud is gonna be light. These boys cannot gain weight...
XOXO
Dado que mi gusto tiende más a la discreción, estos accesorios se me hacen un poco excesivos para mi uso personal...aun asi, en el último caso yo también haría buen uso y disfrute ¡pero del mozo!, no del bolso jajaja.
ReplyDeleteAbrazos, guapo
Hahaha
DeleteY eso lo tenemos en común! Que vamos, que cuando escogemos, escogemos bien.
Un beso, Angelillo.
XOXO
Nice skirt! We should all look so good. This was fun... pixels. I like the floor length coat. And I would wear that navy blue suit. I like too much fabric on slim bods. It reminds me of the 1940's
ReplyDeleteLove skirts. I'd love to have the dough to buy me some LV ones.
DeleteAnd yes, it was totally fun. And too much fabric on slim bodies is rad.
XOXO
