We just got our registration confirmation in the mail yesterday. Yes, our state mails out a new registration card each year. Votes matter and as one pundit put it the other day: The local and state positions are as important as the federal, if not more because of all the nastiness going on in states.

ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Big. Make sure you’re registered and actually get out there to vote.
If your state does not send out annual confirmation of registration like his, make sure you check to ensure you’re still registered. The repugs went on a “cleansing” spree and had a LOT of people removed from the active rolls.
One other thing…if you’re able, PLEASE consider working at the voting sites on Election Day as an election judge, poll worker, or whatever they are called in your jurisdiction. I’ve been doing it for years and it’s one of the most fulfilling, if tiring, things I do. You’ll check people in for voting, enroll new voters, if your jurisdiction allows same day registration, assist voters if they require it. The day is long and sometimes boring when there are no voters present. Most workers are older (like me) but my county also recruits high schoolers to work to show them how democracy works and flourishes in the light of day.
Because of my role at the polling place, I take three days of vacation from work to be a part of the process. They are days well spent. I’ll get off my soapbox now.

Well I've always been registered to vote and I will vote although I'm not very happy with many of our choices I tell you that. Shit... I'd sooner vote for Morgan McMichaels sooner. I adore that bitch... met her twice, great sense of humor and not one to be trifled with. And she has developed so nicely since her days on drag race not to mention has gotten Fierce as hell!

DeleteAnd voting in local elections is what gives new candidates the push they need to jump into the national stage. Find out who the best are and vote for those! It's politics, and sometimes Morgan McMichaels WILL look better!
