Oh, THAT agenda...
Well, when I was watching Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve and Green Day popped up on the screen, I perked up. I had not heard anything from them in like, AGES! And there they were, rocking one of the songs I loved, what, twenty years ago?? Time flies, Constant Reader, when you're having fun.
It was even more fun watching the reactions 'conservatives' had at them changing the lyrics from 'redneck agenda' to 'MAGA agenda', something they had done already in 2019. But you know how MAGAts are, they do not dwell in reality. The rubes just have Pavlovian reflexes to things they don't like.
The MAGAts seem to forget hot deliriously happy they were when Jason Aldean used lynching imagery and talking about trying 'that' in a small town (a song he probably wrote in his palatial Turks and Caicos beach home) and then launched an unhinged attack on 'big government' Green Day.
Idiots.
So yea, my year started kind of full of promise, with one of my fav bands from the 'aughts blasting the stupidity of a country that seems to take a step back in the past every passing day. So, remember to vote this election year (it's a big one in more ways than one) and while doing that, also remember that 'both sides' are not 'the same'.
Just saying...
XOXO
P.S. for a list of some of the reasons you NEED to vote, just listen to Bob...
Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteAww thanks, Debra!
DeleteLet's blog away!
XOXO
Welcome bNO!ack. Glad you had a good time. ... Green Day ... Yes. Magats,,,NO! As I said on Bob's blog: It's going to be a rough year. People are disengaging from politics and that makes it even more dangerous because the Magats need to lose by extremely large margins. XOXO
ReplyDeleteThanks, Big!
DeleteLove Green Day. Can't wait for their new album.
And I agree with you. I said something similar in Bob's blog. Ugh. People really need a reality check, no?
XOXO
Welcome home ... between Green Day and song lyrics and interracial same -sex couples getting the first kiss of the New Year on CNN, MAGAt brains were imploding all over the place and I am here for it.

Aww thanks, Bob!
DeleteThat kiss was SOOOOO on point!!
BTW, I was in NC. We stayed in Asheville for a hot second and then went to Winston-Salem. If I had had your phone number...
XOXO
Asheville is one of our favorite getaway spots. Hope you had a wonderful time.
Deletexoxo
It was super fun!
DeleteWe've been there before. NC is quite... interesting, no?
XOXO
MAGA brains exploding is always a good thing. And you were a fan of Green Day? Surprise me much.
ReplyDeleteHeh.
DeleteOh, Dave. I had Nookie and Nimrod on high rotation way back. Loved American Idiot, though. And you should know better. You know that Nine Inch Nails is literally my avatar, right?
XOXO
Welcome home, dear. We missed you. And Green Day! Yes! I loved the new graphics they projected... very Pink Floyd/Roger Waters. I remember this song was an indictment of George W. - thinking, that was the worst it could get. Little did we know. (Which would make a great title for a new song.) KIZZES. Tell us about your vacay!
ReplyDeleteHey babes!
DeleteMissed you guys, too! Green Daw was sooo cool! And yes, they wrote that for W and thought that was it. LOL NOBODY thought Cheeto would happen.
And I'm planning on doing a travelogue of sorts... I have no idea where to start, though... LOL
XOXO
