Oh, Ryan...

Well, if you are going to break some rules, why not break them in a house that's really one of a kind, that belonged to Tom Ford and that is not what it seems? I believe this whole thing appears in the dictionary under 'understated luxury'.

But I imagine that when you have the money that Murphy and his husband have, this is how you wanna live, right?

I would not say no, to be honest...

XOXO

P.S. you also get the best actresses you can gather to do your voiceover, natch.

I think you'd have to go to the AD YouTube channel in Canada to watch it?

This is a fantastic house. The way they bring the different periods together with the furniture and artwork really seems to work. The landscaping is very well done. When money is no object, you can accomplish fantastic things. Sometimes when the owner goes rogue the results garish, but I think Ryan had a great team and all of this works.

    1. It is fabulous.
The art collection is fantastic and the thought put into the selection of furniture and accessories and even paint is laudable. It looks effortless. Money.

  3. Big says,
Not what one would expect from Ryan Murphy. This is stunning. Certainly agree with "get rid of all the brown." I could live there. Yes, I could. With one change: I'd have to add a pool. And, as funny as it is, the Paltrow painting might have to go. XOXO

    2. I had no idea what to expect.
But I really liked what he did with this house. He apparently uses it to work and to entertain and boy, does it fulfill that job description! I agree with Mads: the brown here is just delish.

  4. I could stay...but wouldn't want to live there.....I cant take contemporary for to long. But love the chic and crisp feel of the house and color choices. The thing I liked the most? The selection of art. Murphys place here is so different than his Ptown place. Now that would be more me personally. And of all things iI like here too is the long hedge lined drive!!

I like how they broke the ALL MIDCENTURY ALL THE TIME vibe and included so many touches of other Mid-Centuries and quirky add-ons. The artwork is fantastic. Loved the scale.

  5. I'll take it, the views inside each room and then out the windows, and the Zen feelings of the garden scream at me to live there!

    1. I agree.
The house is open and airy and it does not look cramped (the double living room is a unique feature, too). Love the garden.

  6. Wait and see what it looks like at the bottom of that hill before you ooh and ah, it's California, with torrential rains and mudslides everywhere.

It was expressly built like that by the architect taking into account the terrain...
