Oh, Mr. Yeung...

I'm a shoe whore. This, right here it’s kind of a fever dream come true.

Now that that's out of the equation, let's talk about this fab place. I think it's fantastic and I don't even have a motorcycle! I think this is what people call 'eclectic' style (Mads would be much better at explaining it that I ever could, of course). Which for the rest of us means just putting together the things we like and the things we gather when we... live?

I think it'd be awesome to have a place like this. Filled with objects that we'd collected in our travels, things that mean something to us and the everyday objects that other people may consider vapid but that mean something to us. Fun fact? When we moved to Chi, the wyphe and I dreamed of having a loft in Old Town. We even went to see two. And then life happened and we ended in the suburbs...

XOXO

  1. I love that art wall. I love a loft space. And He does have "stuff" though I don't think I'd park a motorcycle in the room, but that's just me.

    1. Yes, his art is fab. Loved the antiques, too!
I think lofts are perfect for some people, and I am one of them.

  2. shoe whore? I can smell a bit of FEETicism.

About those who accumulate many objects, memories and similar stuff, and I am thinking above all of those who travel, I think we should be careful to accumulate few objects and many memories (without exaggerating with photos). If you need a small house, just for these types of objects, it honestly doesn't seem healthy to me. Better to travel and live light.

No, Xersex, more like Imelda Marcos. But Alex Mecum kink cum see me any time.
And I kind of agree with you about the traveling and living light. I can't help admiring what people get during their travels, though. I would do the same...

This is a great place. His collections are fantastic and I love all of the carved items, from the Buddhas to the carousel horse.

I also loved the carved items. If I had the money, I'd get something similar. My ex brought a beautiful bas-relief from Thailand that I have always coveted. When I stay with him and his husband, I always ask for the room that has it.

  4. Big says,
What a great space. We have things --- "stuff" we've collected --- but it's rather scattered. Each thing kind of finds its own place, if you know what I mean. Though, it's time to weed things out. After having to clean out a 4,000sf home because our friend died, well, it was a horrendous chore. There wasn't a closet or drawer or shelf or table that wasn't packed with "things." We kind of need to keep in mind that, when we die, nobody else wants the things we wanted. it ends up in a landfill. "Keep the best, toss the rest."

    1. I have always feared that 'weeding out'.
I am one of those people who always remembers who gave them something or where they got something. I know that when I Marie Kondo my life, it's gonna be dramatic.
And cleaning 4,000sf of 'stuff' sounds like a LOT of work. Whoa. Things somebody loved ending up in a landfill is so sad...

  5. I would love that too, Sixpence. A place filled with objects that Mrs. Shife and I have collected over the years from travels and adventures. Then darn kids ruined everything. =)

So cool. And we all know you adore those kids! I'm thinking this could be your move when they go to college, though... I just can see you.

I did not like that motorcycle there, for starters. And you are right, that upstairs could be much better. He's got some fab pieces though...

  7. I'm a shoe whore. And a jacket whore. And a gin whore. And a underwear whore. I'm just a whore honey!!! This place is not for me on a daily basis, but it is very fun and interesting. It sort of reminds me of a museum for pop art I went to once. I find when it comes to the eclectic style most either do it right, or do it wrong...and this is done fun!

Same! And I do like his art. The shoes were the most personal touch, though, IMHO. but it is a fun space.
